Jan 30, 2025The Palms at Pelican Cove: the restaurant.
We did not stay there but were within an easy walk next door at the Pelican Cove condominiums. We always go there a couple of times when we’re staying for 4-6 weeks in St. Croix. To sum up: we go to the restaurant and the experience has been consistent over the past 3 years. Service: very friendly, very slow, and very inexperienced. The food: Inconsistent. They often don’t have things that are on the menu. The food we’ve gotten has actually been quite good, but be prepared for a long wait. Did I mention a long wait. After all, it’s “island time” at the Palms. Once you accept and embrace “Island Time” in St. Croix you will be a much happier and satisfied visitor here. Ambience: Excellent. Right on the beach with palm trees and also flanked by the pool. On Wednesdays they often have a “Mocko Jumbie” show. Look it up. A DJ narrates the show and provides context and history. He is excellent the Mocko Jumbies are also excellent and a real treat. They are a part of Virgin Island and St. Croix culture (as well as the Caribbean) and are not to be missed. They are followed by a really cool “Fire Dancing” show which is also very well done. Carry some 20’s to give tips to the performers. They will earn it, believe me. Jan 26, 2025A quaint beach front property
A quaint property tucked away just 3 miles from the Christiansted Boardwalk. We had a short stay, but our experience was just wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, and they were so very friendly! The food was delicious, with nice-sized portions; we loved that there was entertainment. A lovely pool on the property with private beach access, and we loved having our complimentary morning coffee on the beach. Our room was clean, with a beautiful ocean view. A taxi is required if you don't rent a car to go off the property, Soria, the Hotel Manager personally arranged one for us who became our go-to-transportation during our stay. We felt completely safe. The Palms was as expected - affordable, solid accommodation with amenities. Previous comments on service speed at the restaurant may have been provided by guests not familiar with Island Time. Grace must be given for that! Soria and her staff are working extremely hard to revitalize this sweet little place! A big shout out to Soria, Shay, James, Patrick, Keyjon, Ani & 'Houston' for going above and beyond and taking such good care of us. We came as guests and left as family. We will be back!

Jan 06, 2025Restaurant spoiled my birthday party
When I return home to STX, I always make a conscious effort to support local businesses by visiting as many establishments as possible. My birthday celebration at 1-5 was particularly noteworthy, as I had booked reservations in advance to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience. However, our evening was marred by significant delays, including a wait of over an hour for water, which we had to request multiple times, and an extended wait for appetizers that ultimately never arrived. As our frustration grew, I inquired about the status of our meal and was dismayed to discover that most of our orders, despite a wait of nearly two hours, were not available. I subsequently requested to speak with a manager, but our conversation was unproductive. The manager offered excuses but failed to acknowledge the service failure, and we ultimately departed without a resolution. Do better to treat your locals like family. We felt unwanted and unwelcome due to the manager Insensitivity!

Eat literally anywhere else. The absolute worst food ever.
Supposed to be fire dancers…. No show. Out of the 7 meals we ordered, only the 2 salads were palatable. The fries tasted like an ashtray. It took 30 min to get our drinks and after an hour with no drink refills we literally gave up and ate cereal in the room. Management was a waste of time. We had to chase her down and her excuse was that the chefs had been up all day. WTF???

Stay Away!!!
The restaurant is horrible. Took them 30+ minutes to take our drink order. 1.5 hours to get our food and the whole time, no refills were offered. We finally got our food and it was bland and undercooked. Of the 7 meals ordered, only the salads were edible. Management refused to help, only saying that the cooks had been there since 7am. I guess they were tired?? Not a valid excuse for a $256 bill. Save your time and money, go to McDonalds.
