I was set to change room, but that never happened. Also I was supposed to have a bottle of wine, but they brought it before the check out

Good but I wouldn't come back. It is a dull place with no vibe.
I will write this review as honestly as I can. I am a Sunwing customer who got caught in the delays and so I will not let that jade my review. I will start by saying we did not have a Nexus/Sunwing rep at this property. On our first day I waited and there was no one to be seen. The next morning we tried again and once again a no show. The Air Canada rep told us to try the sister resort, the Melia Caribe, so we got on the trolley and went to see "Andy" from Nexus who really did not give us the time of day other than to say, here download the app. The app by the way really does not work and is useless. I would have like an answer on the first day such as "hey your bus will be here to pick you up on Friday at 1" That is all I really need to know then I can relax the rest of the week and think of absolutely nothing. The app just said pickup time will be updated. We navigated the Paradisus by ourselves. It is beautiful and nothing to complain about. It is right on the beach which is a bonus. The other resorts on the property have a bit of a hike to the beach. The lobby is big and airy. It is clean and has a lobby bar with some entertainment earlier in the evenings. The bar doubles as a coffee bar in the mornings and has some light treats like donuts and such. The restaurants and buffets are centrally located and very easy to find and access. The evening shows are held just outside of the restaurants. There is no theatre and so anyone who does come to watch the night shows are crowded around the little stage. It gets worse if it rains as the tiny stage is in an open area and the seats around with a little bit of roof coverage. The shows are nothing to write home about but still enjoyable. There is no disco. The sports bar seems to be the hangout after the shows. If you want to come to a resort to do nothing but stay by the pool or beach and read and do nothing all day this is the place for you. It is dull and nothing really to do. No entertainment by the pool. No water toys like stand up paddle boards to use. Sorry, you can use the paddle boards, but only in the pool and they were only there two days. No one played volleyball on the beach. The place was dead. The party or as I called it the no party, party pool was pretty quiet. There was a "foam party" one day and all it was full of little kids. The beach is long, big and beautiful. This section of beach is probably the nicest compared to the resorts beside it. We walked past other resorts and this one was the best. It had very little seaweed. They have the water blocked with some floating barriers which seemed to help. We never had a hard time getting a beach chair and loved the fact that we did not have to get up at 5am to get one. If you get here earlier you get ones closer to the water which is nice for the breeze, if you go a little later you get ones further back with no breeze. Pool chairs were no problem either. The rooms are nice, big and clean. We got a swim up room with our own terrace in building 9. It is a nice feature to have if at the end of the day you want to go to your room and swim in a pool with little to no one around. There is a bar with a bar tender who looks after you and will bring drinks to you, at least our gentlemen did. I wish I remembered his name. We tipped him well and he kept coming. At the end of the day he brought us a bottle of wine with glasses so we could sip it before heading to dinner. Food: Food at the buffets is good with a lot of selection. If anyone complains then that is on them. There is nothing to complain about. My complaint is with the restaurants. Good luck getting a reservation. All were already mostly fully booked. You had to stand in line to get them and you could only pick 2 at a time. If you were lucky you could get a 930pm reservation. This is where this property lacks and would be my main beef so to speak. We did manage to get into the Teppanyaki, the steak house (Mina) which was amazing as was our server and Flora which was the Dominican one and the Italian restaurant. We were able to get in slightly earlier than our reservation time as some people did not show. All in all we enjoyed our time here. I would not return as frankly it is pretty boring. Some staff were better than others and it did not seem to matter if you tipped or not. The more switched on bartenders remembered you and were always great as they knew you would tip well and you got the service to match. Due to the Sunwing sh--show we were delayed an extra night. We had no Nexus rep to help us and thank god that we booked through a travel agent back home. I contacted her and she helped us and without her I don't know what we would have done. There was a lot of back and forth and the hotel manager did not care and told us we had to check out at noon. So we did then we got a message from our agent about 2 minutes later telling us not to so we told the hotel manager and she basically said "too bad". In the end Sunwing ended up putting us up in the hotel next door the Paridisus Grand Cana. Wow! We got a huge suite with a kitchen, dining and living area. We had two rooms, and our son ended up getting the exact same room. I think we lucked out. This resort is nicer and newer but is further from the beach. This place would have been perfect except it had a lot of little kids. If that is what you need then consider this place. It also has a water park. I don't think we fully enjoyed this place as we were frustrated with everything that came with the Sunwing sh-- show. We got no answers about airport shuttle times and they kept saying call back in an hour. I spent too much time on the phone with them in the lobby and not enough time exploring this new resort. In the end we took a cab to the airport which was $35.00 US and waited for our plane which thankfully showed up. Not a Sunwing plane mind you but a HIFLY plane that they must have rented to get us back to Canada. I don't think I have ever been so happy to see snow and cold. Paradisus if you can get a little more entertainment, fix your dinner reservation plan and put some water toys for adults at the beach you would up the rating.

Honeymoon vacation was incredible! Reserve is well worth it! Great service, great times and amazing service.
Paradisus Palma was absolutely incredible - great service, views, activities, etc. Our concierge, Gustavo, went above and beyond to assist with anything we might need. He made our trip outstanding and was amazing. Gustavo even went so far to get us a bag of rice for my ruined phone (don’t get phones in the salt water!). This resort was above and beyond our expectations for our honeymoon and we could not be happier. We will be returning to Paradisus Palma real and the reserve side again soon, and hope to check out other Melia resorts after this trip.

Best Bar in DR
Ginger Bar at Paradisus Palma Real. All the bartenders are phenomenal but my favorite bartender was Ismael, his customer service was IMPECCABLE and his Bartending skills blew me away! He was able to create drinks my taste buds didn’t even know I would enjoy. Make sure your first stop is Ginger Bar! Great service with a personal touch
