Beautiful hotel, but just too expensive for the quality

A complicated review as there’s so many good things about this hotel, but it missed the mark for us. Let me explain why. On the positive side of things, the resort is beautiful and immaculately maintained in a gorgeous location. It’s not too big, the pool areas are stunning and the rooms very good. It’d recommend staying in a beachside room. We were upgraded to a plunge pool room after an issue with poor service but I honestly wish we’d stayed in the beachside room. We had breakfast included in our package and I’d recommend anyone staying there does the same, the quality was very good and the staff there lovely. So why have I rated it average? Simply because it is just too expensive and the only restaurant we had dinner in (Fisherman’s Village) felt like a cafe and the service was awful, felt like dinner was thrown at us. In terms of the cost, an example is that breakfast would have been $130 each day for the two of us once tax (12%) and service (18%) was added on. Then there’s the $60 per day resort charge, which I’m still not sure what it was for as when I book a hotel I expect to be able to use the resort facilities and not pay extra for car parking or a cabana ($150 per day) or a love seat! For me the experience wasn’t good enough for the cost of staying there. Obviously it’s all about personal preferences, so refer to my review of The Montpelier where we stayed as part of the same trip, if you’re trying to understand my review relevant to your preferences. One final comment is I feel that the hotel is aimed at the US market.

    Peaceful with gorgeous views

The architecture with attention to the views is the best part of this resort. Your vision is immediately drawn thru a framed hallway to the ocean. Once you are at the bar and restaurant, the service is prompt, friendly. Food is excellent. Even if you only visit the amenities and don't stay, it is worth the trip.

    Tropical Thanksgiving

Peaceful and relaxing short vacation. The hotel was great, beautiful grounds that are very well kept. Very friendly and attentive staff all over. Our room was a good size and we could walk out to the beach. It was not overly crowded so there was no issue getting chairs at the pool or beach, there were lots of umbrellas. Towel stand had sunscreen, water and cooling gel. We did both a rum tasting class and a cooking demonstration and both were very informative. There was a buffet breakfast at the great house which had everything you could want to eat as well as fresh made omelets Everyone there really friendly also. Can't wait to return Also, views of Nevis were awesome

    Relax and Refresh in Style!!

Bed and pillows are so amazing! Staff is helpful and friendly! Drinks pricey but you pay for the name and the food is good. Grounds are beautiful and the adults only pool is fantastic! This is a slice of paradise and you will be pampered and treated very well!

    Breakfast with a view

Gorgeous property with a grand view of Nevis. Sunrise and sunset really highlights the tropical colors. Rooms were spacious and accommodating for our family for four. Highlight of the trip was breakfast (though we had it free because of Hyatt status). The breakfast ladies were so nice, especially Tisha and Vincia. They would always remember our coffee orders and ask about our adventures. The water sports shack was a nice add—we did snorkeling, paddle boarding, and used the beach and pool toys. Service is overall a little slow but acceptable. Kids 5 and under eat free, which relieves some stress for those picky eating toddlers. Would come back.
