  Wonderful Resort

  I would definitely recommend Platinum Yucatán Princess for those looking for an adults only 4-star hotel. While it is budget friendly you still feel like you are at a top-tier resort; and although this was a solo trip, the hotel had lots of activities to keep me occupied. Keep in Mind • Based on previous reviews I was expecting the hotel and room to have lots of wear and tear and in need of a big refurbishment, that is not the case at all, at least based on the room I was in. There are small signs of wear and tear, but it is not as if the room and hotel were about to fall apart. This is not a new property; however it is not old, the resort was built in the 2010s, and has a great modern look to it. The staff does an excellent job maintaining the property, to keep it in-shape and looking new. • The room was clean and spacious. There was a small plant bug in the room when I arrived, but nothing that scared me or grossed me out. This is a tropical climate so that is to be somewhat expected. I killed it with a napkin and went on about my day. • The bed comes with two pillows not four. I'm not sure if they'll bring you more if requested. • The resort offers 1 complimentary 16oz bottle of vodka, rum, and tequila in the room. This is PER STAY not per day, however since most resorts do not offer complimentary bottles of alcohol it was a nice touch. They also offered complimentary bottles of Coke, Sprite/7up, Club Soda, and Still Water PER DAY. If you drink all the bottles of water, etc. in one day and request more from room service they will charge you. While some people may find this unfair, especially in terms of the still-water, many resorts charge you even for still-water these days, so I didn't mind. The resort is ECO friendly so they are trying to cut back on plastic waste. • The beach is not as spacious as the pics on the website. It has enough space, but keep in mind that on a busy day it will feel crowded and tight. I made it a point to only go down to the beach in the late afternoon around 3:00pm to avoid the crowd. There is another Princess resort next to ours, and you are welcome to use their beach chairs if the ones in front of Platinum Yucatan are all taken. • Since my stay was in winter and not during the bad sargassum season (May - Nov) there wasn't much sargassum on the beach or water. However, the hotel has a net setup far back in the ocean to act as a barrier for the sargassum so that helped a lot. It is noticeable since a resort a short walk down the beach didn't have a net, and there was a lot more sargassum on their side. • I enjoyed all of the meals I had at the specialty restaurants. The breakfast buffet had a large selection of food items. However, most of them were not on the healthy side, so keep that in mind. • The specialty restaurants only have sandwiches and snacks available for lunch. The buffet is open for lunch, but starting at 3:00pm they only have burgers and snacks available. • The mixed drinks at the bars are only slightly mixed with a spoon, so often times you'd wind up with a drink that either had lots of alcohol at the bottom and chaser at the top, or chaser at the bottom and alcohol at the top. They do not have straws at the hotel. • The shuttle to downtown Playa del Carmen was great. I was happy the hotel offered this, so I didn't have to take taxis. The shuttle van picks up guests near the lobby (and the drop-off location in PDC) promptly at the designated times, and it is $5 USD each way. • Some of the activities like archery, standup paddle boarding, tennis, yoga, etc. are at the club house which is about a 10 min walk from the main building. They also offer a trolley that can take you there. • I attended two of the nightly shows (Burlesque and the Fire Show) and they were great. I was glad the resort has nighttime entertainment options available other than a club/disco. • All of the staff I encountered at the hotel were friendly and helpful. If you plan on tipping the staff remember to bring small bills. The only person at the hotel that had enough change to break a $20 USD bill for me was the shuttle driver. Not even the souvenir store had enough, or was willing to break the $20 USD.

  Would come back! Great girls trip

  I went on a girls trip here and we had the best time. Felt so safe and loved that it wasn’t crowded. We loved Enrique (bellhop) they were all so great. Kind, funny & thoughtful! Betto is so funny! Loved the activities too, rifle, Pilates & more! Good was good but nothing excellent! Amazing for price. Would totally recommend.

  Clean, friendly, fun

  Great experience at the Platinum Yucatan. Staff was friendly and helpful. The resort was extremely clean and you can see the staff consistently cleaning and maintaining the property. Beach isn't great, but you have access to a better beach at the other Princess resort.

  Super great entertaining crew

  The hotel is a good one, location and amenities. I would not rate it as an excellent hotel. However, the staff was very hospitable. I want to highlight their entertainment crew. This hotel has great entertainment shows; burlesques is top-notch, their salsa band was a wow, and most importantly, Rhamses Navarrete and Malu Galindo are the best!! They definitely made my vacation and stay great. They are very lively and cheering, entertaining and welcoming. They have various entertainment activities for everyone; the highlight was making bracelets. I am still wearing the bracelet that Rhamses made for me. It's a super great souvenir. Keep up the good work.

  Almost willing to return. Communications should be handled via tv channel or some other easily updated and mass distributed manner). Beach Towels were not easy to come by. Staff were very pleasant. The lead pool bartender is amazing at his job!
