Price too high for what you get…

We paid close to $400 for a basic room on a Tuesday in February. I understand that they have conferences going on, but we booked it last minute(hours before arrival), and were surprised to not get a better deal. Booking that late, nobody else was gonna show up to book the room. Our room is so weirdly laid out, it makes me think that this place used to be a different resort and they took it over and did the best they could to change the layout. In one room is the shower and toilet, but then you have to go across the hall for towels and the sink. The price is so high considering that no food or drink are included, though you can pay extra for food. The entire resort is very compact and crowded, and a little confusing to try and drive through. The pictures online make this place look like a paradise, so maybe it’ll only be surprising for first timers. And if you’re not coming here for the pools (which we didn’t visit, so they might be great), I wouldn’t recommend it unfortunately.

    Overall Experience

The grounds of this hotel are beautiful and that’s pretty much the only good thing about this hotel. The rooms are old and you can tell there have not been any updates recently. The towels and bedding all had stains and the vanity had hair on it upon check in.

    Not family friendly

The day we left for our trip our child got sick with RSV and required medical intervention. I called to cancel and was informed since it was booked through Expedia that Expedia would need to cancel it. I talked to Expedia and they tried calling the hotel three times and there was no answer so they sent an email. The next day Expedia tried calling again and was informed by Tapatio staff that we didn't show up for our reservation so it could not be refunded. They discussed our situation with hotel staff and offered that we send medical documentation in order to provide a refund and the hotel still declined. I called again personally and asked to speak to the manager. I was connected and the line immediately disconnected. Will not ever stay at this hotel. I don't want to support a business that is not family friendly.

Facilities are amazing, Staff is lacklust.

The property is amazing. Too many pools to count, outstanding food everywhere, Scenery is unmatched. Onsite spa, complimentary transportation to your suite, Starbucks in the lobby alongside a large convenience store. The staff could care less. Had to request trash be removed, ask for towels daily, and practically beg for our room to be cleaned. Front desk is not much better. Could not even make adjustments to the bill as requested. Would not even walk 5 feet to check on a package that was delivered, made me walk to the other side of the lobby and wait for the bellman. For the price, the level of service should be better than the local McDonald's.

    Nice rooms

Nice, clean rooms. I did not like the hidden fees, but that is what you get with a resort. I thought the fitness area needed updated. While staff does a great job with caring for the resort, I felt like this was a really dense resort and not much room to spread out.
