A fantastic and beautiful resort
My family and I stayed at Riu Bambu in December 2024. It was the best resort that we have stayed at in Dominican Republic. The hotel and beach are just as beautiful as in the photos from their website. We stayed in a family room. They converted the couch into a bed for our tween daughter. The beds only have sheets on them. We were surprised that they didn't have blankets, which made it too chilly to sleep. We asked for blankets and extra pillows and they supplied them for us, which made it much better to sleep. The only con I would say for a family room is that the shower is not in its own room. So trying to get ready in a room with our tween daughter was a bit challenging. And we didn't turn on the light in the shower because the wall is made of blue glass, so I don't doubt you would see through the wall. We had to make sure we dried off and got dressed in the shower. It was a hassle. The food was really good--especially compared to other DR resorts we have stayed at. The main buffet restaurant is really good. And the steakhouse restaurant was really good too. There was always something good for us to eat. The staff in the main buffet restaurant were excellent. Super friendly. They were always setting up balloons for people's birthday party dinners. We loved how there were so many palm trees, which offered much needed shade from the heat of the sun. The resort is big and we were staying near the water park, so it was a bit of a walk from the main area. The shade of the buildings and the trees helped keep the heat of the sun off of us on those walks. The resort grounds were kept nice and clean. This is a super great resort to stay at. My husband and I were very impressed by it. I highly recommend for anyone to stay here.

2025 vacation
We previously stayed here during COVID and had a pleasant experience. This time, we visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. While we had an excellent time overall, with great food and wonderful hospitality, the rooms were a major letdown. They are in serious need of upgrades—there was visible mold, and the towels provided were of poor quality. Thankfully, we didn’t spend much time in the rooms. I was also disappointed by the limited drink options. There was only one red wine available, which fell short for someone like me who enjoys a good glass of wine. On one occasion, I even walked over to the RIU Palace for a higher-end wine. Additionally, there were no top-shelf liquor options, and when I asked the bartenders for bottled water, they said they didn’t have any to offer.

Terrible smell
The room stank of mold. I got another one when it was unbearable. The only good thing about the hotel is the very friendly and helpful staff. Couse of them Bambu gets 3 points. Without them zero. I am currently washing all my clothes for the third time. Everything still smells musty and moldy.

Great vacay!
Loved the resort layout, service, friendliness. Food was great at times and meh at others. Great room, mattress very hard, pillows and towels need replacing. Great activities. Shows were repetitive so the first one was great.
