Stay from 14th - 24th October 2024
We have been going to Riu hotels for many years in different locations and are lucky to now have a diamond card, this is the 4th time we have stayed at this hotel, we were given a superb room on the top floor even better than requested, always kept very clean as were all areas of the hotel. The drink situation is not ideal but we are not big drinkers and I just had a soft drink at lunch and water at dinner, my husband the same at lunch a house beer (all you could get) at dinner. This is a government thing in Majorca only. The buffet restaurant was was a good choice for all meals especially at lunch, . Mostly all Germans here which we knew would be, it’s part of the holiday and what to expect in this resort. The pool area is quite attractive and has a garden at the back with sun loungers, I found it a bit annoying that the main pool was closed for all the time we were there as I like swimming, the decorative pool was nearly impossible for swimming as lots of children, floats and ball games, had to use the indoor pool which was open. Only suggestion, the lounge chairs are quite hard and upright for sitting in during the evening (believe these were here on our first visit in 2013) All staff very friendly as we find at most Riu hotels and we often see the same staff at returning hotels. We enjoyed our time here and would expect to return sometime in the future

Not 'All Inclusive', drink options are very limited and poor
We've stayed in Riu hotels a lot so selected this one because we've always had a good experience in these hotels, sadly this time it was quite disappointing. Firstly it is not under any circumstances All Inclusive, yes the food is included but the drinks are limited - ok, we knew that when we booked, we are allowed 3 alcoholic drinks with lunch and 3 with dinner BUT these drinks are only served in the restaurants, you can only have red/white/rose wine and have no choice of what type (sweet/dry etc), its just bog standard local wine - we wanted to order a nice Rioja and they didn't have any or any other wine to choose even if we were prepared to pay. The only other option is beer or soft drinks and again only available in the restaurant. No cocktails, no spirits - they all cost extra. There are soft drink dispensers so you can get sprite/coke etc but on several occasions the machines were out of action and when we went to the bar and ordered soft drinks we had to pay. The second reason we selected this hotel was that it has an indoor swimming pool. When we asked at reception what time it opened they said November! Apparently this pool is only open in the winter months (beginning in November)! When I checked on their website it says 'temporary closed' now that implies generally its available but at the moment its closed (for maintenance etc) NOT that its not available until November. We found this completely misleading and were very unhappy that we could not use the indoor pool in October - how were we supposed to know it wasn't available? The area the hotel is in is great however most tourists in this hotel are German, there were large numbers of drunk noisy football fans in the bars around the hotel in the evenings (and sometime daytime) which didn't give the place a great feel. On the plus side the food was excellent, the staff were all very friendly, it was well maintained and clean. Would we go back to this hotel? Absolutley not, it did not live up to our expectations, we felt we had been mislead by their advertising and didn't get the 'all inclusive' that we've received in all the other Riu hotels we've stayed in.

Lovely stay
The Rio Bravo is a lovely hotel. So clean, tidy, staff great, food was lovely and so much choice. Catered for me as someone that suffers with a lactose intolerance as all food is labelled. Pools were lovely, warm and clean. Always loungers and areas kept clean. Service was good especially Anthonia she was lovely and so informative and helpful about the local area. We just didn’t realise about the alcohol restrictions as just assumed it was an all inclusive that meant it was all included but it’s not it’s limited to with lunch and dinner and you have to pay for your alcoholic beverages outside of this. The beach was lovely but we weren’t keen on the area. Caters massively for Germans, lots of German bars food places and a massive German entertainment venue just down the road. Not for us I’m afraid.

POOR !
The Staff / Hotel is fine , food is a tad bit repetitive but ok , my gripe is that you spend so much on all inclusive then have to pay for your drinks , this should not be allowed , the evening entertainment was shocking / not enough chairs to watch even if we wanted , so went out every eve which was not the idea , all inclusive means all inclusive !!!! we asked to extend our room ,was told to come back on the day , ahh no chance even though the guests were not coming till late in the evening , and offered a toilet to change , poor is not the word , we stayed in Riu ocho rios , asked for a room extension no problem evening shows were great , this hotel is way over priced for the service it provides.
