We recently stayed at this resort for spring break with our 16 and 18 year old daughters. We are not overly picky people...just happy to be on vacation.But we are very big beach/ocean lovers and this beach and ocean did not dissappoint!!!! yes we had a couple of windy days but never stopped us from enjoying the ocean. Our rooms were cleaned very well, the drinks were great, the food was good, always a great variety. What really stood out to us were the employees....every single one of them we came in contact with were extremely nice, genuinely, and very friendly and helpful! We were consistentely waited on at the beach by Gustavo. He was AMAZING! He knew our names right away and made every effort to keep our drinks full and to always ask if we needed anything. Angel at the pool bar also learned our names and was especially attentive and made us feel like he had known us for years. And I cant forget about Willy at the staqge bar...he also learned all of our names and greated us with a big smile every time we came to get a drink! He also knew our daughters by asked about them often!

Overall, great place with friendly service, many pools to choose from including a water park and nightly fun shows. I gave it a 5 star but we would’ve liked to see more fresh seafood/fish offered.

Good but not Great
Overall we really enjoyed out stay here. The staff was very friendly and the resort grounds were clean and well kept. Our biggest issue was the food. Very below average.

Amazing Family Vacation at Riu Dunamar – Our Best RIU Experience Yet!
We recently stayed at Riu Dunamar in Cancun as a family of four (two kids, ages 6 & 11), and out of all the RIU resorts we have visited, this one has been the best! Service & Accommodation The service was excellent, and the room was always clean and well-maintained. Our room was beautiful, but our only concern was the bed size. The room had two beds, but they were closer to single-size rather than queen, which felt small—especially with how kids tend to sleep. Since my daughter (6) found the bed too small, the staff kindly made up the couch as a bed for her. For my 11-year-old son, we requested a cot, and he slept very comfortably. Next time, we will request two cots to ensure both kids have their own space. Food & Drinks The buffet had a great variety of food, and everything was delicious. There was something for everyone, but if you are expecting lobster, crab, or specialty cheeses, this may not be the right place. However, if you appreciate fresh, well-prepared meals with plenty of options, you will not be disappointed. The drinks were fantastic, and the resort serves high-quality liquor. Pools & Entertainment The resort has three pools: Adults-only pool – perfect for relaxing. Main activity pool – where all the fun games and entertainment take place. Family-friendly pool – a great option for those traveling with kids. The poolside service was excellent, with staff always attentive to guests' needs. One thing to be aware of is the presence of seagulls—if food is left unattended or carried around on an open plate, they may try to snatch it! Fortunately, the staff was proactive in cleaning up any leftover food. Kids’ Club & Night Shows The Kids’ Club was fantastic! The staff kept the children entertained with arts, crafts, sports, and sandcastle building—they truly enjoyed their time there. The kids' night show was a big hit, but we wish it lasted an hour instead of just 30 minutes, as our kids didn’t want it to end! Neon Party – A Must-Experience! Every Wednesday, the resort hosts either a White Party or a Neon Party. During our stay, we attended the Neon Party, and it was absolutely amazing! The decor, music, and entertainment were top-notch. They even offered neon face painting, making the atmosphere even more fun. The event runs from 7 PM to 11 PM, so expect a lively and energetic ambiance during this time. If you plan to attend, I recommend calling RIU in advance to check which party will be held so you can bring white or neon clothing. Overall Experience Our experience at Riu Dunamar was fantastic, and we will definitely return. The resort offers exceptional service, great entertainment, and a memorable family experience. Highly recommend for families looking for a fun and relaxing vacation!
