Mar 30, 2025One of the Better Hotels to Stay At
As always, this hotel never fails to live up to my expectations. It’s my second time staying here and from 2022 to now, everything has remained beautiful. The staff are so welcoming, the rooms are clean, (the mini bars in the room stay stocked 🤭), the property is clean. The vibes you get out here are unmatched. It was nice to see the employees that were here last time. Some even remembered me. I love it here.

Mar 29, 2025A week in paradise...
Despite the mixed reviews, we were just excited to travel somewhere tropical and ecstatic to be back in beautiful Jamaica! Fortunately for us, we were quite pleased with this resort and what it had to offer. I found the staff to be very nice and pretty accommodating. I did feel that the front desk could be a bit warmer and could smile a bit more, but they were still efficient. As per the other reviews, the entertainment staff was awesome, worked very hard, and were the most engaging. Rooms were pretty clean, and fridge always stocked. I do wish there was more counter top space to get ready in the bathroom, but that was minor. No issues with hot water. Beds were fine, a/c was fine, storage space was plentiful. Disappointed there was no room service menu. 😞 Because the buffet was more than adequate, we didn't feel the need to visit any a la cartes... the buffet had plenty of everything you could desire, and there was always Jamaican food, which we appreciated. Food was warm and fresh. My husband is pescatarian and barely eats carbs and never went hungry. If I had to nitpick, I wish there was more variety with fruit and desserts. The Pepe grill available during lunch by the pool has delicious chicken and fried dumpling...do not skip it. Try to go early as once they run out, that's it. Also, the mini veg, beef and chicken patties found in the sports bar are some of the best I have ever had and really hit the spot when feeling snackish! There are several pools... the popular "party pool" is always busy and has a swim up bar. There are games held there. Then there is the sports pool where there is a vball net and basketball net and they do water polo runs there and the foam party is held there. Aside from these, they have 2 quiet pools for those who are more lowkey and wanting to relax. I am definitely a beach lover, and I am sad to say that I was disappointed by the beach. It looks pretty with lots of palm trees for shade. However, the ocean floor was full of seaweed and mushy sand, so I STRONGLY recommend bringing a floaty. The water is very calm, so you can float the day away. The sand is quite rocky in many areas, so be careful. We are huge beach volleyball players, and many of us got cuts and bruises from the rocks. ;( There are beach vendors, but they are not aggressive at all. They only had one paddle board, so we ended up kayaking since my daughter and I wanted to do something together. The night entertainment is there if you want it! They have music and games, followed by a show, and then you can hit the on-site club at 11pm. They also have certain themed parties on various nights...white or neon party, beach party, etc. The grounds are beautiful and renovated and kept clean. Just go, have an amazing time, and leave your worries behind!!!

Amazing Stay
I absolutely loved RIU Montego Bay. The only reason I didn’t give five stars about cleanliness and room was because our room floor always felt dirty, like it wasn’t swept when they came in every day. Other than that, the room was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Firmer than what I’m used to but not to the point it bothered me. The pillows weren’t big and you only get two but I was able to make that work. Someone who requires more of an elevated head may have an issue. The room fridge was restocked every other day and if you requested anything on the app, they did it and let you know it was completed. The other couple we were traveling with had a problem with a front desk clerk late in the evening when their door wouldn’t unlock. It ended up being the battery in the lock but the front desk clerk acted bothered by the request for maintenance and initially blamed the occupants for messing up their key card by having it in the same pocket as their phone. Maintenance person was very nice and responded quickly even after front desk advised he didn’t know and ETA. Mind you this was 11:30 pm. Food was good. Drinks were good. Everyone, besides the one front desk clerk, was so nice and helpful. Reservations fill up quickly for the restaurants so do that as soon as you get checked in. I will definitely be back to this RIU.

The service was amazing. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Very friendly place to go. The food was good. The only down fall was trying to make reservations it was very difficult. We ended up eating a lot of buffet. The rooms were clean and fridge was stocked.
