Good value for money.
We loved this hotel and everything about it enough to return for a second time. It is so close to the airport and very good value for money I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5* is because there are better hotels but this one is great all round Rooms were very clean and the housekeepers kept our room lovely

Standard resort, nothing special
Adults style 5 star all-inclusive resort. The food is very much international with limited local Jamaican influence. The rooms are clean but some of the furniture is old and needs replacing. Overall facilties are greet, including kayak, gym , water sports. The beach front is rather nice but not the best beach in Montego Bay. On the other hand, great parties, pool parties, and activities, you will never get bored. Lots of alcohol , rum at discretion. If you want something more quiet go somewhere else.

Very Dissatisfied
I booked a reservation at the Hotel RIU Montego Bay Resort from July 25 – July 30, 2024, in the Suite with a Sea view. I was excited to attend this trip with family and friends at what was perceived as a wonderful resort with beautiful views, delightful “all-inclusiveness,” and a perfect location for what my “unforgettable holiday in paradise” would feel like. After I was settled into my room, my friends and I decided to go to the buffet for dinner. Well, to our surprise, we noticed a roach crawling on a guest food at the table next to us. Within a few more minutes, there was another roach crawling on the wall where we were seated. I went to the front desk and spoke with Juan about the situation where he referred me and the other guest to the General Manager named Claudia. After speaking with Claudia, she suggested that her only resolution to the situation would be to book us a reservation for the steakhouse or the Italian restaurant. Why would we want that as a resolution to the issue when we are staying in an “all-inclusive” location where our food is provided, and we are complaining about roaches in our plain site? After further dialogue with Ms. Claudia, it was apparent that she was frustrated with me and the other guest, so she got up, turned off the lights in her office, and walked out leaving us no other choice but to walk out as well. While I was trying to ask for the information to file a complaint and speak with her, I assumed she was going to the front desk to get this information, but that was not the case. She then told me she did not have anything else to say to me and to get the card from the front desk myself. All the time, I am thinking what kind of customer service is this? It is just the first night of my stay, and I am already not having a good time. As time progressed, and I am trying to enjoy my vacation, once again, ANOTHER ROACH INFESTATION. I went to open the refrigerator in my room to get a bottle of water out, and now I am being greeted by critters. At this point, I go back downstairs to speak with Keva and my room is changed from 5330 to 5130. (as a side note: there was another guest in room 5117 also complaining about roaches). Now that I am in room 5130, I encountered the following issues: I could not use the shower due to previous water damage to the ceiling and the white putty was all over the floor inside the shower. The shower was never cleaned out and footprints were prevalent. The room was never cleaned thoroughly (if it were, then the cleaning crew would have seen that the room should have never been given out) All in all, this trip was not a vacation for me due to all the issues that I encountered while staying in this location. I did not get a good night rest for fear that roaches might crawl on me or around me. I did not appreciate the customer service I received when trying to notify your staff of my encounters. I have traveled to many RIU resorts and currently have a reservation booked for the Dominican Republic at Macao. And now Im seeing the review for that location is not great. This is the first time that I have experienced anything like this and to be honest, it has left a non-positive lasting impression on me.

Needs an update!
Slightly outdated property but the biggest downside is the awful food, the horrible dated DJ’s still playing Dollar & Suavemente and the muddy ocean water. Unlike Negril, white sand, warm water and no sludge on ocean floor. The sports bar is incredibly boring. No music at the sports bar and no karaoke at sports bar. The hotel had ONE night / ONE hour of karaoke. The entertainment staff is pretty good with the exception of one staff member who was pushy about receiving a specific amount of a tip for face painting. She was going to get a tip but to request a minimum amount was in appropriate. Also, don’t use ELEGANT JAM TOURS! They did NOT show up at the airport and did not have a rep at the counter. Starting off the trip with 30 min of frustration at the airport was UNACCEPTABLE and of course they refuse to refund! Lastly, the crowd and RIU Montego Bay December 2024….. ratchet is an understatement! Inconsiderate and rude to say the least! Second and LAST TIME at RIU Montego Bay. DO BETTER!
