Observations
Everything about the hotel was great apart from the fact they were finishing refurbishment so it was a bit noisy and sometimes power cuts and lights not working along the paths which I am sure will be rectified now. The only problem we had was it was a long way from the airport and we got a lot of mosquito bites as did a lot of people. Make sure to bring insect repellent not that it helped much to be honest. We also had a plug in our room but that didn’t help either. Began to spoil holiday by the end of two weeks. Again think that the fact they were doing a lot of planting and digging might have made this worse. The beach was stunning although we were disappointed with the sea which was not crystal clear but maybe recovering from hurricane. All in all a good holiday.

QUICK VACATION MID DECEMBER
My husband and I traveled in mid-December for our Anniversary - 1 week after the reopening from the remodel for. It was still very new in the reopening and still had areas that were under construction. Although construction was present, it wasn't disruptive or a nuisance. This resort is very nice for the price we paid, although travel to there from MBJ is a little taxing. Complementary bus ride was almost 3 hrs long which made for a long travel day. Other couples we spoke with opted for private transfer, but due to the roads and route to get to the resort this options still also was taking about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs to arrive. All of the staff at the resort was so friendly. Shouts out to Monique, at the front desk, who greeted us each morning by name and called us one morning to wish us a Happy Anniversary. O'Neil and Ruen at the Lobby bar are a hoot to hang with and enjoy a few cocktails in the evening. They kept everyone at the bar laughing the entire time and really work great with each other. The resort is just spacious enough to not be too overwhelming and the location of all the amenities is perfect. The only negative that I have was the the rooms/areas needed to be cleaned up a lot better after the construction. You could tell our room was very recently finished, as the fixtures still had the plastic coverings, but you could also tell because of all remaining construction dust/debris that was all over the room. It really needed a good sweeping / mopping/ dust down before it was habited. Same for all the hallways and stairways - very dusty/ dirty. Also, both of the towel holders fell off the wall on the first day - looked like they were only tacked up and not permanently placed. Due to the location, I don't know that we would visit again, but we did enjoy our short time here.

An amazing location to reset after a long year
The staff were all amazing. Very professional, happy and helpful. The food was on point with our expectations. The venue itself was well maintained, clean and laid out perfectly for both a relaxing and adventure seaking vacation. We will be back for sure

Glad we stayed
We had a great time at Riu Negril and appreciated the updates since the upgrade. The resort is beautiful, with plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. The beach was clean, and the drinks were well-made—exactly what you'd hope for on a tropical getaway! The staff deserves a special shoutout—most of the servers were phenomenal and went out of their way to ensure we were taken care of. That said, there were a couple of hiccups. Dinner reservations were hard to come by, which was a bit frustrating since the restaurants are a big part of the experience. We also encountered some issues with our room and my parents’ room, which took a little away from the overall experience. Despite these minor setbacks, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Riu Negril for a relaxing vacation. With a few tweaks, it could easily be a 5-star experience!

Great service
We received excellent service from all staff and loved the beach. It was very beautiful. The food was good. Big up Ace and Chad. There needed to be better ventilation and the AC unit was limited. After taking a shower the room was and remained damp for the whole stay. Towel hangers fell off due to epoxy not drying or curing properly. Would recommend or stay here again if they remedy the room ventilation
