VERY SURPRISED AND HAPPY
The staff, food, and premises exceeded my expectations. Christmas Day was especially enjoyable, and the food was excellent. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. I am very happy with the experience.

Inclusive is different for many people!!
My husband, daughter, her husband and two children just came back from a week there starting Dec. 27, 2024. It said all inclusive, but it’s not what we expected. There are 4 restaurants that don’t open until 6:00 p.m. each night and they are not big restaurants so if you don’t get there early you won’t get in or wait until a table is free. You can not make reservations. There is a huge restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner; It is all Buffett with many good choices and this we found very good. You cannot order cocktails in any restaurants which was disappointing, you were offered white or red wine of their choice only! We had adjoining rooms and the next day there were lots of small bugs in my daughter bathroom, they were mortified!! They were all in the sinks, the floor, her husband’s bag etc. They told us the hotel was full, but they could exterminate the room or we could wait until 12:00 for two other adjoining rooms that were checking out, we did that, but they would not let us back to check in until 3:00 (you would think they would have the cleaning people do those rooms first, but no we actually didn’t get all our things until 4:30 that day. This was a huge inconvenience as we had to take out personal belongings to the pool where someone had to stay with them all day. You don’t get 24 service where u can go and get a snack if the kids wanted something so bring your own. The pool was really nice and the bar. All inclusive to us was disappointing. We have gone to Beaches in Turks and Caicos every year and it is truly all inclusive although more expensive, but worth it!! We won’t be back! The kids did have fun on the beach & pool.

Disappointed in the RUI.
I've heard that Aruba is incredibly. It is, but don't stay at the Riu. The resort is clean, but the rooms are so dated it's just sad. I'm surprised this is a RUI, it falls way below their standards. Save your money book elsewhere. Our room had black mold in it, the shower didn't work at first. Elevators weren't working, had to walk down 6 flights of stairs. We were treated poorly at the Italian restaurant. We were ignored, it took 90 minutes to get a small portion of food. Most of the time we couldn't get chairs on the beach. There are much nicer hotels on the strip, The beach is nice and the location is great, 100% walk location, which means there are better restaurants nearby. Honestly, book another hotel and fall in love with Aruba.

Have to pay for cabana at riu palace !!
We are returning riu palace customers but this is the first time in Aruba . Unfortunately the palace is not what used to be . Our shower smells like sewage . The speciality restaurants used to be better by reservation , now is first come first served. You get there at 6 and is sold out or return by 8 if you are lucky . Food is below average and it takes very long , honesty is better at the buffet. The restaurant close to the beach doesn’t open for breakfast or lunch like others riu . And you won’t get drinks served at the beach . SCAM alert At the beach you’ll have to pay if you want a cabana. The guys in charge of the beach area are running a business. By 6 .20 am ALL the cabanas are “reserved” including January 1st ?? You’ll see dirty towels reserving the cabanas, but if you give the guys 10 bucks they’ll assign you a cabana and removed the dirty towels . First time in all my years traveling all inclusive that I experienced this issue . Definitely not coming back to Riu .

Not bad but not great either
To piggy back off of other reviewers, I agree that it is a pretty dated hotel, the rooms definitely need some work as lots of stuff breaks down (our doors didn't work several times, shower door was broken, toilet clogged on several occasions etc etc. Nothing life or death but for the insane prices we paid feels like these are things you shouldn't have to deal with. Food was ok not great, but we like AI so we don't have to think much about meals. The staff was excellent as many others have stated. Overall it was good but I'm not sure I'd stay there again, for that $$ I'd probably go to a newer hotel and just eat out, so many great places to eat that are walking distance from the hotel.
