Apr 05, 2025A Great Spot to Stay
This was my first time at an all inclusive resort and it truly was an amazing experience! The staff was great and everyone we met while staying there was very friendly! It was a lowkey stay with minimal night life, but they did have live music and events down in the theatre if you wanted to go. Also you could go to other RIU Resorts to experience their typical party’s during the week. The beds were a little uncomfortable and there was a decent amount of road noise since the hallways are open to the outside. If you do get the chance I highly recommend going to Isla Mujeres via the catamaran! We booked with Scuba Caribe right at the resort at it was 10/10! Going through them was a way more intimate experience that only included individuals from other RIU Resorts. Their hut is located right before the entrance to the beach! I would definitely go back and stay here again!

Apr 04, 2025One of the most asinine experiences ever!
This resort has some of the most two faced employees I have ever encountered. The manager would not allow my wife and I to check in because the first name on the reservation did not match the passport. We spent over 2 hours on the phone, trying to get the resort to respond to the booking agency request to inform them it was resolved. Riu would not answer them. Then the resort informed us we could charge our stay and would be refunded when the problem was resolved. So my wife paid the resort with a credit card that had the same name as the original reservation. The manager did not verify whose name was on the card or if it matched her passport! Meaning they don’t really care they just want your money. Over all the place is well kept. Food is mediocre at best. Drinks seem watered down and some of the bartenders are as rude as the front desk. It’s a lot of money to spend for an experience that is not worth the price. Buyer beware!

Apr 04, 2025Great property with amazing views and food.
Chose this resort as a guys bachelor trip. The resort, albeit small is a very beautiful one. This was my first adults only resort and it was a great stay. The resort is on the quieter side, however they offer the Riu Party option which I believe is offered on select days throughout the week. In this option, there is a bus that will take you from the Kukulkan resort to the Riu Caribe resort, no extra $$ is needed for this. The property is located on a strip where this is a lot of places to eat and couple of malls(prices of goods at the Isla mall are inflated). Checking in was easy, however I originally booked a double bed room, however one was not available on the day of check in but they switched me the next day, which I was happy with. They stated that the double bed room option is a request that is made and not a guarantee. I also paid for the elite club option however I don’t believe it was needed. It does feature access to a private pool, bar cart and day beds, which I rarely used. Overall, a great property to stay at with hardly any negatives to say. That being said, during my entire stay, the beach was always graded with a red flag (not good for swimming) the pristine water color was amazing to look at however like I said, it was rough during this time.

A very friendly and Courteous hotel
This is a well ran hotel. The staff were awesomely courteous and friendly. All of the restaurants were well ran and the food was tasty with the exception of the Mexican restaurant (go figure). The food there was bland and I personally was rushed to complete my meal by the wait staff. So much so that my wife and the couple noticed it and wondered why the wait staff was pushing me. While the resort has plenty of amenities. we spent a great deal of our time around the pool. To avoid sitting in the sun we had to arrive early in the AM and stake out our chairs. While drinks and food were all included in the price. I truly have never seen people drink the way some of the guests were drinking. I sensed early on it wasn't smart to venture beyond the boundaries of the resort while walking on the beach. We did however go to the high end mall across the street from our hotel. Overall a god experience at the hotel

THIS RIU DID IT RIGHT
Been to most Riu's in Mexico and Punta Cana, but this one was the best one of all. I totally agree with most of the reviews I've read. The cleanliness of the entire resort, the excellent service everywhere , and the friendliness of all the staff was way beyond what I expected. We did the Elite package, had a beautiful ocean front room on the 9th floor, got premium liquors, access to the Elite restaurant, pool and some perks in the room. It would have been just as enjoyable without it. This resort was great! The beach was very clean and the water was warm and free of seaweed. Waves were a little rough some days but still enjoyable. Some of the staff I would like to mention who stood out were, Aron (buffet server),Augustina (our housekeeper),Josue(Elite front desk),Juan and Ramiro(pool bar)Caesar, Richard and Valerie (entertainment). Thanks to all that made our vacation special. Looking forward to seeing all of you again soon.
