  Vacation with Friends

  Had a great time. Food was excellent!! Staff was great to work with!! Definitely and Great Hotel 😊😊

  White Lotus

  Very nice property more hotel then tropical get away which I did miss. Everything else was perfect. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Resort was clean and drinks were flowing. Would give a 5 star!!!! Ready to tell all my friends.

  Fantastic week

  The hotel decor is a little older/traditional but still in great shape. All parts of the hotel are spotlessly clean which is a big plus. Staff are very friendly and efficient from reception to restaurant staff to those that serve drinks at the beach. We ate mainly in buffet for breakfast and lunch and were never disappointed by the variety and the quality of the food. Tried nearly all the specialty restaurants for dinner and had no problem getting a table without the need for any reservation. Again the food and service were really good. Rooms were spacious, beds comfortable and mini bar stocked and replenished. Shower pressure was good and everything was spotless. Try get a room with a sea view because it’s totally worth it waking up to those turquoise waters. The hotel bar is a nice place to relax and while the resort is clearly busy, because of its size and variety of restaurants and bars it never felt crowded. This is truly an all inclusive resort - there was no surcharge for room service or certain drinks but suggest getting some small bills for tips which are not required is very much appreciated Only negatives are the room service menu is limited and I would not bother using the RIU app as requests through that went unanswered - just pick up the phone if you need room service or housekeeping etc. This is not a hotel for partying or those that really want high end entertainment. However if you’re looking for a quiet getaway with great food and service in a fantastic location, I would highly recommend.

  Really disappointing stay

  This trip was for my friend’s 60th Birthday as she wanted to visit Cancun. This occasion had been sent and emailed to the hotel from our tour operator prior to travelling and they advised there would be something nice awaiting her when she arrived….this did not happen. The booking had been messed up and the hotel staff were confused firstly who was in whose room. For lords sake we were two married couples. The reason for the low review is for the following; 1. Rooms tired and we had a concrete balcony you couldn’t see through to the view. 2. Noisy fridge and aircon like a steam train. 3. When will they learn that filter coffee in the rooms is so not 5* and why not a kettle for teas…oops forgot we were not American, they murder tea when making it! 4. Furniture old, sofa dirty and drawers sticking. 5. NOISE! Large groups of bachelor/hen groups and mostly loud American groups. Taking over the pool, pool bar and all of the loungers. 6. Availability of restaurants. We were advised you don’t have to book but beware you do! We were advised several times that the speciality restaurants we full and had to use the buffet restaurant. Not good enough as stayed in other Riu hotels around the world and had the option to book online, not at this hotel! Due to partying in the rooms until 5am or in the corridor my friends had to move room to get some sleep. Not acceptable and it had been reported and security sent, they just advised the group to be quiet. Was easier it seems to give in to the group rather than look after the other occupants disturbed. We also had this issue on the 7th floor for the last 2 days of our holiday. Now the good bits;; 1. Staff are lovely and try to be helpful. The army of cleaners do a fantastic job and rooms very clean. Also plenty of towels each day. Anything missing quickly replaced by housekeeping. Bar staff efficient and friendly. Entertainment staff good fun! 2. Food good and lots of it and if you could get into the restaurants variety ok but does become a bit monotonous after a few days. Did go to Ruth’s Chris Steak restaurant for a my friend’s birthday as nothing sorted as promised in the hotel. Also plenty of good drinks at all times. Would I go again, no! Sadly this has jaundiced my opinion of Mexico and can assure there are other better hotels and resorts in the Caribbean.

  Just Awesome.. Really Nice

  We were just so impressed with this place. It is a perfect mix of relaxation and fun. The people are amazing and the grounds are beautiful and clean. Grounds - smaller resort but not over-crowded. Beach is amazing and pool areas are clean and vibrant. Always an employee cleaning somewhere. Vibe - there are quieter sections and livelier sections. I would describe it as energetic and fun while still being classy and relaxing. You can take the shuttle to the RIU Caribe parties which were really good for any age. They really do a great job with making those parties fun for older and younger people. Employees/Service - by far the number one thing from our perspective. I was blown away by how attentive and polite they all were. I never felt like I hadto tip or that I was putting someone out by asking them for something. For the level of this resort, the service is amazing. I would rank it higher than Sandals. Just amazing people. Food - probably the only mediocre thing here. I would describe as average. Some things weren't that good but some things were actually really good. It was consistent though and you will always find something. Steakhouse and Krystal were the best and you can always find something at the buffet. But the great thing is that you don't need reservations for the a la carte restaurants. We literally just walked into where we wanted. No negotiating with the front desk or concierge trying to get reservations. This made up for any lower than average food quality. Drinks - We were drinking Patron Tequila, Absolut Vodka and Bacardi rum which for the price of this resort, is more than good enough. I stayed at Sandos Playacar a few years ago and swore that I was done with all-inclusives after that b/c it was brutal. But RIU Las Americas won me back. I usually like to try different resorts but no need. We will definitely be back.
