    Riu Palace Las Americas

First time at Riu and we will be returning this year. From the time we arrived it was first class all the way. Shout out to all the front desk staff and to Abu at the lobby bar who we looked forward to seeing every evening for his smile and fantastic drinks. The entertainment staff was amazing and always had everyone involved, shout out to Johnny and his happy personality. Food was perfect and the service at both the beach and pool was amazing.

Great Stay : Some Things Need improvement

This hotel was beautiful, honestly it might be one of the cleanest and kept up with hotels I’ve ever been to. My family is used to going to more expensive hotels like the Garza Blanca, but honestly with my stay at this hotel, I was extremely impressed. Here’s what they did right : - They maintained the hotel clean at all times, with plenty of people cleaning the inside and outside of it every day. - Lots of variety in the buffet, sometimes even having lobsters and crabs and different rare and expensive steaks. Not only did they have good but a great desert section as well, the macaroons are only served at lunch in the cafe in the lobby, but they are worth waiting for, they are soft and delicious and made perfectly. - The hotel staff were very attentive and friendly. - They had many different drinks and bars. - Great crowd interaction and lots of events to keep the hotel fun. - The rooms were gorgeous and it has a gorgeous view if you get one facing the ocean. Here’s what they can improve on : - Very attentive staff but only in the restaurants, out by the pool I didn’t have a single person come up to me and ask me if I wanted a drink, even though the pool was completely empty. - It was super cold outside and the pool’s heater wasn’t turning on. - Need to do better at controlling the people who are drunk. My girlfriend and I were at the bar and there was this drunk guy against the wall and he reached over to my girlfriend and grabbed her arm and called her sexy and demanded her to go back to the room with him, the bartender just laughed and proceeded to keep serving him drinks. - They need more people working the front desk at the lobby, the room keys are super sensitive and deprogrammed super easy, which means you have to go to the front and have them reprogram it. At the front there is only ever 2 workers and they are always calling somewhere and we would have to wait around 30 min to reprogram your little card, something they do in seconds. Overall, I had a great stay at this hotel and the hotel itself picked itself up when it would fall short of your expectations. I hope to visit again sometime.

    RIU another great vacation

Great hotel in Cancun, perfect location to many tourist places, also pharmacy, grocery store close by, the beach in the premises clear and clean water, awesome pools, magnificent rooms, big, clean, also nice bathroom, a lot of options for food and drinks, top quality restaurants for dinner with different options, my reservation included the airport shuttle, the staff is amazing; speak very fluent English and of course Spanish too, a lot of activities daily and nightly, RIU has always been a great choice.

    Weird vibe but decent

This was our first time staying at a Riu or all inclusive hotel. Overall it was a good experience but weird. The patrols by heavily armed marines in body armor threw off the vibe and made it kind of a surreal experience- especially when we learned of the cartel hit on the hotel beach in October. But it was nice to relax on the loungers on the beach and stand in the warm Caribbean water. The pools were nice too. It was cool when the waiters would bring us drinks by the pool or on the beach. We liked our room, it was clean and comfortable. We had great views of the ocean and the storms. The food was good- our favorite was the mexican restaurant. We had to try three times to get into the Black & White steak house but the food was good. The staff at the main buffet were excellent, trying to make us feel at home, and going out of their way to see that we had what we wanted.

Wouldn't pay so much to stay at a place like this. Not worth it.

The pools were nice. The beach was beautiful but small. Too many negative things about this place: I was standing at the counter and the server was handing out drinks to customers who were standing at the counter, but it seemed like only white people or people who looked American or European were getting it. We were completely ignored twice. The bathrooms have a stink in them that's like an open sewer. Uggh. It's there all the time. The exhaust fan starts making a loud sound at different times of day and night. In a 5 star hotel there is no way to control the temperature in the room!!!! Crazy. They decide when to run to the cooling and when not to. Heat is not even an option. You can try changing all the settings you want, but they don't work. Good luck. The food is average or poor in the restaurants. A couple of good dishes in the Japanese restaurant and good salad and ice cream in the Italian restaurant. Otherwise, it was food I would not eat again. I don't understand why I had to pay more than $500 per night at this hotel. There is nothing that's so good here.
