Beautiful resort very clean, gorgeous beach. Maintenence staff work hard. Staff work hard but if you forget to tip you do notice the difference in service.Only real complaint was the smokers . They smoke wherever they wanted including the room next to us. Nothing was said .

Great vacation
My husband and I spent a week here with friends just before Christmas. Our first three days, we stayed across the street at the Riu Tequila. After our three nights, we walked across the street with our luggage and checked into the Riu Palace Mexico. The check-in was wonderful and very quick. We checked in, in the morning after breakfast, and obviously our room was not ready, but we were given a bracelet to enjoy the facilities while our luggage stayed in the lobby. We have stayed at the Tequila 5 times but our friends that were coming wanted to stay at the Palace. To be honest, unless there was a super good deal, we would not spend the extra money to stay at the Palace Mexico. First off let me say that this is the best beach in the entire Mayan Riviera. The beach for the palace is directly beside the beach club for the Riu Tequila. There is a rope, running down the side walkway path of the beach separating the two. You cannot sit on the Palace side if you are staying at the Tequila and you would be asked to move by security that roams the beach for the Palace. The palace is distinguished by purple armbands while the Riu Yucatan, Tequila and Playacar has red armbands. The difference in the palace side of the beach is, the chairs are much more spread out and you have much more room than the other side. On the tequila and Yucatan side the chairs are very close together. Also on the palace side, what is nice is there is a waiter that goes around with a very large tray of multiple types of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks for Palace guests to choose from. There is no waiter service on the beach at any of the Riu other than the palace. There is not a waiter that comes around and takes your order for drinks, you just choose what is on his tray. Every time he comes around, he will have a variety of different drinks, which also includes beers. Their rooms at the Palace desperately need updating. The entire Palace actually needs a refurbishing, including the lobby area, restaurants, and theatre area. After spending a week at the Riu palace Pacifico, you could really notice the difference. Another nice feature at this Palace is the waiter/waitress service at the lobby bar area. Any other Riu that is not a palace does not have waiter service any longer since Covid in the lobby bars. I think they really should rethink this, and at least have this service in all the Riu’s. The food in the buffet was excellent, and so much variety. The service was excellent.

Our stay at the Palace Mexico
This was our first stay at the Riu Palace Mexico but not in Playacar. We stayed at the Riu Playacar 2 years ago and loved it. We really enjoyed our stay at the Riu Palace Mexico. We knew the area so that was a plus. Our hotel was spotlessly clean & the staff were incredibly friendly. There was more than enough food for everyone at all the sittings & the a la carte's were really good. The bar service was excellent and very professional. I have only one complaint & that is I don't think the refurbishment of the rooms has really worked. The space in the toilet is minimal and I don't know how some guests actually managed. So that's my review. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a really good stress free holiday.

The overall holiday was good, apart from the bad rain every day in December, But on party day, there was every countries flag except the uk, they even had austrialia. Most of their guests are from the uk and they fail to put our flag up. I did question this and was advised the manager had ordered one and it would go up, I was not there to see this, There was a bad case of Nora virus whilst we were there, we lost several days of our holiday

Great To Be Back!
After 7 years since our last visit to the RPM it was great to be back and reconnect with some familiar faces! We were thrilled to see that Elena, Rigor & Amiel were still there, along with a few others we have gotten to know over the years, as these individuals always make our visits truly memorable. We were also very impressed with the entertainment crew and the job they do. These kids were very funny, engaging and quite talented - we truly enjoyed their stage productions, not to mention their energy & efforts to entertain down at the pools and beach. As always, housekeeping and the wait staff in the restaurants did an excellent job! The only noticeable drop in service was the bartending staff at the pool bar. Where they used to be fun & engaging, a good number of them seem disinterested and unappreciative of tips and would even ignore you at times. There were a couple I recognize that perhaps need a change of scenery. Pastor was a very good hire though - keep him and give him a raise! All in all though, we enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next visit.
