Very Nice Property, But...
The resort is beautiful and luxurious. The service is great. Rooms were spacious and quiet. Riu Palace - Puerto Vallarta has been totally refurbished and it shows. All the staff I interacted with was courteous, helpful, friendly and willing to please. The buffet was average, but one can't expect a buffet to be overly spectacular. I found the specialty restaurants to be uneven. There was an incident at the Steakhouse that was troubling. I ordered my steak medium-rare. When the steaks were served another member of our party cut into the steak and found it to be undercooked to her order. Since the steak was first served at a different table, I didn't know about this. That cut steak was presented to me. Being unfamiliar with Mexican practices, I accepted the steak, even though it was cut open. I wrongly assumed that possibly the chef had done it to check for doneness. I found out about my friend being served what turned out to be my dinner after we'd eaten. I should have been served a new steak. I'm not as grossed out as I could be, since a friend had checked the steak and not a stranger. The other specialty restaurants ranged from average to really good. Overall, I'd go back to the Riu. But I'd keep my eye on the servers!

Rui over Christmas holidays….
After years as travelling as a couple, this was my first solo vacation. It wasn’t exactly what I expected or wanted, due to some unexpected heath issues, but, I will give the staff…all of them..a huge acknowledgement how they took care of me on a personal level. They made sure I was safe, and had a good time despite it all. However…I didn’t find the food “ raving” and as a single person, I was denied early dining in most of the restaurants I was told tables had not to be wasted on only one person, when 2 were waiting..come back closer to closing. I thought that was unfair considering how much I paid for an all inclusive I was entitled to, regardless. There was a huge mix up on the day I. Was suppose to leave. The hotel management went over and above them selves to correct and compensate me beyond fair, outside of the travel operator I was travelling under ( sun wing ). It was a bit of a hassle, but in the end it all worked out , thanks to the management staff at the hotel its self. Suggestion to the hotel: it’s a long trek from the lobby area to the beach/ pool area when a person has mobility issues or elderly. It might be wise to make washrooms..or add more easily accessible and place some sitting benches along the way so those who may struggle, can have a little rest. Overall…a nice adult only resort…..staff is beautifully bilingual..professional, and I think they would be the reason I would return back. Exceptional customer service is worth it.

This Resort is Top of the Line
This property has really upped their game. 2 other couples and ourselves travelled all of us had ocean front Jr Suites and Elite Club, so this is written from that perspective only. This was one of our best vacations yet, newly renovated and nothing cheaply done. Rooms were fabulous, clean, large well stocked, comfortable and a perfect balcony to watch the whales go by every morning and afternoon. (tip, bring ur binoculars). Staff was simply OUTSTANDING and so very pleasant and happy to help us out. From Check in to check out was the best experience. Food was over the top GOOD in most cases with one miss at the ELITE restaurant which had great service but terrible food. Best Burger was the sports bar and best dinner a toss-up between the Steakhouse and the Italian venues. Best Entertainment was the Mariachi's Ok now for the question was Elite Club worth it? The answer is 1000% yes if you have the means then do it as it is worth every penny, trust me you won't regret it. The only other negative was the return transportation lady was rude, not helpful and she managed to screw up everyone's return to the airport except one couple and the rest of us took cab's which ended up being only $25ea couple and worked better. After all the money we and the RIU spent for us to have a great week she was the cause of the only sourer note and should be avoided at all costs, just a nasty person. Ok enough of that this resort is beautiful, well situated and has excellent food, bartenders, entertainment and every employee we encountered other than the transportation lady were exceptional. We all are very happy with our stay and see you again in 2026.

Top Notch Service
I can’t say enough about our recent stay at the RIU Palace. Everything from the impeccable service, to the food, cocktails, beach, pools, housekeeping, cleanliness of the resort was top notch! I have to emphasize again the amazing staff provided five star service! We stayed at the Palace pre-renovations two years ago and it was just as wonderful, but now everything is new & improved! We couldn’t believe how many long term staff work at the Palace. Every single one appears to be really appreciative of the guests, and is professional, friendly and engaging. You can really feel that they want you to enjoy your stay. I wish I kept track of all of the names, but to give a shout out to a few: Janet & Maria in the restaurant, the lobby bartenders & the ones that worked at the special cocktail station, Lalo & Minime serving at the beach & pool. All of the activity team was entertaining. The Saxophone player by the pool was amazing! We will return, and it has definitely made us fans of the RIU brand. We have been to many all inclusive resorts but this RIU Palace has become one of our favourites! Thank you!
