Riu Santa Fe
To clarify, we are people who travel multiple times each year to different places but always Cabo once each year. This resort has a great location. Walk to town is around 30min. The resort is VERY well maintained and seems to be updated regularly. It is a very large resort which comes with some positives and negatives. Its very busy. The good part about that is that there are lots of food options and the food turns over quickly leading to fresh food. Food: 1) The American a la carte is good. nice options. Really good real cheese cake. Note is that they only bring you one option at a time. Not a big deal. Order one thing and as it comes order another. They are very fast. 2) The Italian a la carte is good with many many options. Fresh crepes and pasta. 3) The steak house a la carte is very good. Get in line early for this one as they only have so many spots open at night and its popular. 4) The Mexican a la carte is a good restaurant. 5) The Asian a la carte is ok. Our least favorite by far. Quality could be better. 6) The gourmet a la carte didn't meat our expectations for quality or options. 7) Buffets are ok. Lots of options but very busy with a ton of pushy people. 8) Snack bars are nice for pool side options. Pools: Because it is a large resort there are many pools. Lots of party pools and quiet pools which works well for the mix of people. Staff: Overall the staff are fantastic and work hard to make your experience great. One HUGE shout out to Jose Loone at the beach side breakfast buffet! Sit in his area and tip well. Always has a smile and runs to service your needs! We did have one very rude and lazy lady at the guest services area. We tried to book pickleball and she rudely turned us away and wouldn't look into a time slot. We went back an hour later and Mario was great and got our slot no problem and was very helpful with directions etc. I won't say the lady's name because you should praise in public and criticize in private, but we had another rude encounter with her later. She know who she is and a good chance her management knows who she is too. Entertainment: Not my thing anywhere we go for the most part, so no review. The rock bands prior and post entertainment were a nice touch. Riu Party's and disco: Again, not my jam but I am sure many people go here just for that reason. If you get a building near the Riu Party bring ear plugs if you go to bed prior to 11pm. Not a big deal.

Great vacay @ Riu Santa Fe
My husband & I went the last week of October for 6 days with another couple. Ignore the negative reviews! We had a great & relaxing time! The food was great especially Baja California buffet! We were greeted graciously by Diana with a great smile daily at breakfast! We always sat in her section! Our room was nice, clean, & cold! The staff here works very hard & they are always cleaning! Please bring tip money! They appreciate it & will take care of you! One of the cleanest hotels I’ve been to! There is a pool & activities for every age! Wear comfortable shoes because you will do a lot of walking! It’s a big hotel! Great view of Los Arcos from infinity adult pools! The men enjoyed the sports bar to watch World Series & football! Great snacks here! Will return again! Mil gracias!😊👙🍹🌵🌴🌞

An okay resort definitely not handicap friendly
I stayed at RIU Santa Fe in Cabo for my bday early Nov 2024. The resort is big with plenty of pools (family and adults only). The weather was perfect, low 80’s with plenty of sun. The food was decent (the tacos and grilled chicken were the highlights). Check in and check out were a breeze. The rooms were clean but the mosquitos on the lower level rooms were crazy. Size of the rooms were perfect. The beach was right down the stairs from the pool. A heads up when you return your pool towel make sure they give you a card back, it’s $150 charge if the towel card is not turned in at checkout. The pool party was fun but the techno/ house music for each pool party all week was a bit much. I never stayed for the full party because the music was so repetitive it got annoying. The up charge by the resorts taxis. $18 usd to go 10 mins vs a $5 usd Uber ride to go to the mall in city center. Do yourself a favor and use Uber. You will have to meet them outside of the entry gate, Ubers aren’t allowed to come in the resort to do pick ups only to do drop offs. Our uber driver was the a highlight of our trip he was so nice. HUGE problem is the resort has like 8 or 9 four story buildings on the property only one building (#7) has an elevator, this building is the building with rooms that have ocean view. For this reason alone I probably wouldn’t come back to this resort. I felt so bad for the older ppl and ppl with kids that were using strollers or wagons. I was on the 3rd floor so the added heat didn’t help. DO NOT use Destination Services to book your excursions. I wanted to go to Wild Canyon for all of the activities, spoke with the Destination Services reps that are on the property at the resort, told him where I wanted to go, paid thinking we were booked for Wild Canyon…… definitely wasn't wild canyon ended up at a family owned atv/horse company. I swear my horse was a donkey, all I could do was laugh and shake my head. Made the most of the few hours. Next time I go to Cabo I’m definitely booking online through the website prior to the trip. Paid almost $400 for 3 ppl at that place smh. Lesson learned the hard way.

Great Stay at the Riu Santa Fe
Great stay at the Riu Santa Fe. We enjoyed our 5 night stay in November 2024. The Hotel is very well run and the Staff were all friendly and accommodating. The hotel grounds are kept very clean and we constantly saw staff cleaning up. The Food was great at the Buffets and the A La Carte's and we always found something enjoyable to eat. ( the negative food reviews always make me laugh) The main pools are a great atmosphere during the day and give an amazing view of Lands End and the huge cruise ships. Lunch around the pools at Tiki's Tacos and Pepe's was better than expected. The Riu Partys are fun and vibrant and offer some top notch people watching! (Yes they are Loud until 11pm) The Sports bar is 24/7 for late night hang out. They have a cooler of sandwiches for snacks. Overall, the Resort, the service, the food and the drinks all met or exceeded expectations. With the great atmosphere and proximity to downtown I would definitely stay here again. Pro Tips: 1. Just down the beach from Santa Fe they do a Turtle release (6 am) Go almost 1km down the beach towards to Marina and they have a conservation team that does this. We saw them release over 1300 turtles! 2. Use Uber - it was much cheaper than the cabs and just as reliable. They can pick you up right at the front gate and drop you off at the lobby. We paid between 75-95 Pesos to go to the Marina from the Riu.

Great Family Vacay - Safe, Good Value and Fun Times
We are on the eve of leaving after our nine days here. We were last here in March 2022 and things have changed for the good. We are in Building 3 and the rooms are very nicely upgraded. Tiled out showers, new flooring and wallpaper. It's a nice upgrade. The restaurants are all upgraded too. La Mission and La Torode now have the food serving areas inside. The International Buffet is completed upgraded too. Gives the feel of a five star resort. Food here has always been good, never great. It's good value for what you pay. It's presented well and consistent. Our family checked out the Steak House - which didn't disappoint - and the Italian Restaurants. We found the Italian to be good, but basic. My kid's loved the American Country restaurant and we went there a couple of times. There ribs were maybe the best thing I ate on this trip. The additional Pepe's locations by the pools are a great add. I ate more tacos this trip than every before and they were good. First time using the Riu App. We needed water on one occasion and our safe had an issue on another. We sent in a request through the app and things were looked after in under 30 minutes each time. Staff are and have always been the jewel of this place. Friendly and willing to go above and beyond. While we saw very few who we recognized from two years ago, the new ones carried on the legacy from past staff (this was our seventh finished in nine years). We aren't big drinkers so can't comment on the bars other than there are lots of them and my kids could always get up there and get their drinks quickly. My kids loved the waterslides. They were never crazy busy so they did as many slides as they wanted to. We found there were many more families here this trip compared to others. This was a pleasant surprise. Entertainment is as it always is. If you've been to one resort you've seen it all before. ABBA was not great and it's my opinion it's time to retire the Michael Jackson Show. We were worried that the Riu Parties would be crazy noisy as we'd experienced in the past. I can't speak for other areas but from Building 3, we couldn't here it and didn't even know it was happening. NICE CHANGE RIU!! A few tips Exchange your towels at the end of the day and go stake out your pool spots prior to breakfast. Going into town or to Walmart? Get the UBER app. We went in a few times. $5 Canadian with UBER one way INCLUDING 15% TIP. Taxi's are $15 US with tip. Book your ride on the app and walk out to the gate. On the way back, UBER brings you right into the resort. Great Lattes in the Sports Bar - made fresh. Lattes in the restaurants are from a vend type of machine. RIU...suggestion...add a true coffee bar in addition to the sports bar. It's needed.
