10 YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY/TURNING 50 TRIP
We had the best time. It was our 10 year wedding anniversary and my husband and I both turned 50. Pool was amazing, people super nice and friendly. The view from our room was absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back.

RIU Palace is very good but can be much better.
The hotel staff are excellent and very helpful. Overall the trip was very enjoyable and relaxing. However here again we see many examples of why Americans have a reputation for being rude and disrespectful. Particularly when gathering for specialty restaurant dining. RIU needs to figure out a new method for this operation. Our biggest complaint would be the dining hours. 6 pm opening for speciality dinning and 6:30 pm for buffet is, in my opinion, too late to start service. This is especially true for a family resort where there are numerous children. And I believe children under 6 should not be allowed in the specialty restaurants. They are loud, obnoxious, and ruin the dinning experience for the adults without children. These are small restaurants, seating about 50 patrons. We won't come back due to this issue. Had the adult only resort not been over sold we would have stayed there again. The service in the specialty restaurants can be extremely slow, 90 minutes just to receive appetizers or great as in entire meal completed in 45 minutes. The food is excellent at all of the restaurants. We dined equally at both resorts. The service in all of the restaurants was very commendable. Although tipping is not necessary I felt it was well deserved. Our room was moved at our request. It was too loud being on the 3rd floor of the south tower. After the move to a much higher floor it was very pleasant. RIU can become a top notch destination in Aruba if they will take an objective look at the above mentioned issues. I would highly recommend this resort for families, not necessarily for couples. The pool area is actually better than the adults only resort next door. This resort is in a good location for walking around the area as well.

Should be renamed the RIU ‘Happy’ Palace!
The Reviews are confusing and fortunately we ignored them. We stayed in the main building with an ocean view (Room 301). It was extremely clean but dated, hence the four star Review. The hotel is situated in a prime position on Palm Beach. Palm Beach is paradise and there is a fabulous board walk. I suggest turning right at the back of the hotel and walking along it or the beach. A good time is about 7:30 am. The steak restaurant is stupidly popular and rightly so. I queued from 5:00 pm for a 6:00 pm booking. This is an excellent time to catch the breathtaking sunset! There can be another sitting at 8:00 pm but it is a little unreliable. I ate either ribeye or lobster both being superb. The staff are fabulous. A big thank you to Luis, Chantal and Flor. Mimmi and Christina in the Martini Bar know their espresso martinis. The coffee bar by the Martini Bar is a wonderful start to the day, and make sure you look out for the warm cinnamon bun cake where you collect your coffee. It is so good and so popular. The Animation Team are excellent as are the staff on the Pool Bar who know their cocktails.

RIU Disaster
I thought this RIU would be different by it being in Aruba and how expensive it was. The pictures on line were not exactly as the resort looked.. the rooms were out dated patched ceilings furnishings were in poor condition there was a slight smell in the rooms it needs a total renovation. We were there 8 days with poor working elevators or NO working elevators. There was one very important issue it is NOT AT ALL HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE no ramps and lots of stairs. I have a bad knee and had to use a cane so having no working elevators at times was bad. The food was mediocre. Out of 4 restaurants plus a buffet only one ranked good and that was the steakhouse. I can’t wait to show our bathroom🤦🏽♀️. The pool was nice as well as the beach. We had our room cleaned took our towels but didn’t leave any took the entire day after 4 phone calls to get towels. One more thing our door had to be SLAMMED in order for it to be closed. This RIU I would not recommend.
