WARNING!!!! DO NOT GO!
We were invited and it was a free trip so we had no choice. There were cockroaches in our bedroom, the bedsheets were super dirty and the towels seem to just get washed in water. the food was not good at all and the entertainment was a nightmare it was as good as a low rated senior care center. The few machines at the gym that they had available did work and the ones that did work were from 40 years ago. I will never come back.

Nice vacation
Had a wonder time at the Riu Playacar. Service is top notch and so friendly. Grounds were beautiful. Beach was amazing. Food left a bit to be desired. Dinner and breakfast were fine, lunch was always gross with not a lot of variety. Rooms were awkward for families as shower opens up right into the room, not allowing for much privacy.

Beautiful December Getaway
My husband and I decided to take a vacation the week before Christmas, we have stayed at a RIU before and since we had such an amazing time the first time around we wanted to continue with RIU and try playacar! Service, room, entertainment everything was fantastic. I would come back here in a heart beat! Our next trip is already being planed to stay at a RIU in Dominican Republic. 10/10

Great place!
Would definitely go back. Perfect size resort, everything is close and accessible. Food is good and there is a nice variety. Nice children little pool close to the beach AND the pool. Rooms are a little small and beds are not so confy, but overall very functional. Everything is SO CLEAN!

A great place to. Isit
This is the third time I have visited this resort, the rooms are very clean and the staff go over and above to make you feel welcome. The beds were a bit hard which I didn’t enjoy, but a softer mattress is just my personal preference. The gym needs some work as the equipment is getting old and both treadmills were out of service during my visit. The hotel is ideally located about a 15 min walk into Playa Del Carmen or a 3 minute cab ride. This is a relatively small resort 500 rooms so easy to get around. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and very well maintained. Lots of lawn chairs so you never have to worry about. The pool however gets busy fast and a lot of people get up early to claim their lounge chairs. All of the restaurants are first come, first serve but never a wait and the waiters do their best to accommodate large groups. The entertainment is just ok but in all fairness I think all the resorts have the same level of entertainment. I had one bad experience in the Mexican restaurant and my stomach was upset from the food. All the other restaurants were excellent. The buffet had a lot of variety and was always replenished. One suggestion for the hote would be to make the beach more accessible for guests with disabilities. My daughter has mobility issues and the only way to the beach is down stairs. When they get down the stairs there is no surface to walk on to access the beach and the sand can be challenging. This is a great place for families and couples. We will be back next year!
