    Gorgeous resort with great staff.

After reading some of the reviews, my husband and I were a bit apprehensive of this resort. We stayed for 6 nights in January and had a great time. Everyone was wonderful. The room was clean and housekeeping was fantastic! Shout out to Wendy! We ate at most of the restaurants. Our favorite being the steak house. You should make reservations in advance, it does get busy. Remember, you are on island and vacation time. Relax, if your reservation is for 6 and you don't get seated until 6:15, it's not the end of the world. The beaches and pools were gorgeous. The staff was amazing and friendly. I would highly recommend staying at this resort.

    Shambolic

By far the worst ‘holiday’ experience ever. Thanks largely to the Royalton Antigua’s incompetent management – Marlon Fenton, Yankarlos Zapata and Jeroma Grant. There is a severe lack of hospitality, consistency, coordination and communication amongst the staff (we were told this first hand, although it was also plain to see). We received a cold welcome on our first visit to the buffet restaurant, which was a clear indication of things to come for the duration of our 10 night stay – inefficient, unhelpful, unwelcoming staff, the majority of whom looked miserable and like they didn’t want to be there. They often complained to one another in front of clientele. We often had to ask 4-5 times for something before it finally came (if at all). We tried the 3 à la carte restaurants, but with lengthy wait times, mediocre food and the same incompetent staffing issues, we resorted to dining at the buffet most evenings. Allergies are noted by the staff, and then subsequently ignored. The food is pretty average. I even found a long hair in one of dishes at the Italian restaurant, and the waitress didn’t seem that bothered when I told them and returned the dish. They didn’t even come back to offer me a fresh dish or alternative. The hotel lacked atmosphere, and the evening “entertainment” began very late, so not always suitable for families staying at the hotel. The spa area was cold. Soap was not always replenished in the toilets, and there was a broken seat which you could easily fall off in one of the poolside toilets which was not repaired for days. The accommodation was substandard, especially for "Diamond Club" where the rooms were no different to the other rooms. My parents had to change rooms as theirs smelled of mould, and there were several broken fixtures and fittings in both our rooms. Diamond Club claims to offer “preferential room locations with the best views”. We had requested Bay View rooms and had mentioned that we were celebrating my parents’ 70th birthdays and my daughter’s 5th birthday, but we were still allocated ‘Mountain View’ rooms, which was in fact a tree-covered hill side. From our balconies you could see and hear the waste management area below. We had also requested adjacent rooms, so that my parents could help me with my daughter, but we were allocated rooms that were far apart. We received no assistance whatsoever from the resort with our baggage delay – my five year old daughter’s bag was the first to arrive 2 days after our arrival, my parents’ bags arrived 3 days later, and mine arrived 5 days later – with both the lock and zip broken (thank you Virgin Atlantic – a total shambles of an airline with a shambles of a baggage tracing ‘service’). When we requested a basic letter/statement from the hotel to state the date and time my bag was delivered (so that I could provide this for my insurance claim), the management simply avoided speaking to us for days, and failed to turn up to see us on two occasions, even after meetings had been arranged by our butlers. At least our butlers Brandon and Shanice were friendly and tried to help us where possible. It is a shame, however, that even after paying for "Diamond Club", the butlers are not even permitted to make restaurant bookings, so you still have to scramble for bookings along with all the other guests, at least 2 days in advance, to stand a chance of getting a reservation. The beach itself is lovely, but walk down it away from the resort if you want some peace and quiet and avoid the blaring DJ music. Being here felt like hard work, rather than a holiday. We would consider this a 3 star resort at best; it is most definitely not deserving of its 5 star status.

    Waste of money!

If I could give this resort less than 1 star I would! DISGUSTING is the word that comes to mind to describe the whole overall experience. let's start with the staff and how RUDE they are! They intentionally mislead, misguide, and misdirect. They make you feel like you should feel lucky to spend money at this resort. Even with my husband who is a platinum for life - they really handled that inappropriately as well by lying! Check in process - horrible. We planned and specifically requested for 2 queen beds for my two adult children and on arrival were told it was not available! (We followed the suggestion of the platinum desk to email the resort with our request in advance). For an all inclusive property - it is not! for the first to days we were there we had to go off property to a restaurant because there was no reservations available for anything other than the buffet which was disgusting at best! Paid for diamond level which was nothing special. never aw the butler unless it was to attempt to fix the issue. No pool attendants and the "diamond" part of the beach was just a rope laying in the sand. Dirty hallways, trash on the elevators and access with a handicapped family member was horrible! Damage in the rooms, dirty sofas, broken tables - I was speechless. Missing lightbulbs throughout the building and room service was not accommodating at all! Ice cream machine was broken or not turned on at all many times. The restaurants were always out of something from their menu and they misrepresented items from the items such as creamed spinach being served as collar greens. Double Charge for items at carribean restaurant which we had to challenge! Flys, stray cats and animals and when you want something an hour before the restaurant is closed - you are out of luck. The app was absolute garbage. It looks great but it is nonfunctional!

Terrible Service, worst possible food, practically no entertainment.

Please do not come to this place, very unwelcoming from the moment you arrive. Unwilling to explain anything when you are arriving. Food is absolutely terrible, not enough variety, Buffet food always cold and poor choice. The same food every day , breakfast and lunch exactly the same. “Specialty” restaurants very difficult to book because the apps not working and will keep telling you “use the app”. Entertainment not existing. Housekeeping staff : every day towels were missing (despite leaving tips) and when asked if missing towels or soap can be replaced , the answer: I don’t have”. Definitely beautiful beach and the weather. Needless to say : Not Recommended.

Great Wedding Experience - Highly Recommend

My husband and I just got married at the Royalton Antigua in January 2025. The experience exceeded all our expectations. Our Wedding Coordinator Michelle Wright went above and beyond to make our day extra special. Michelle along with Isha Philip made everything happen. From setting up on the Sky Terrace, to arranging the photographer for getting ready photos and wedding photos, to arranging music and arranging the final wedding documentation to be fed exed to us - Michelle made it all happen with professionalism, communication and friendliness. Everything was perfect and we thank Michelle for making us feel special. Chloe our wedding officiant put her personal touch on the wedding ceremony which was beautiful. Our butlers Khem and Sharlene were super attentive. Sending champagne to our room and arranging a room move to a preferred room were two highlights for us. Kema was our favorite server at Grazie and for our dinner on the beach. She was friendly, always smiling, and super attentive. We contacted Barry Oliver for transport to and from the airport and for transport into St Johns. Barry's wife Denise was lovely and made great recommendations for buying our wedding bands at Columbian Emeralds in St. Johns. Barry will make sure you have great transport including airport and into St. Johns. Favorite restaurants onsite - Caribbean and Grazie Favorite place for coffee - Diamond Club patio If you are looking for a beautiful island, nice all inclusive resort, and solid service, Royalton Antigua is a winner. If you are thinking about getting married in Antigua, Michelle Wright at Royalton will make your day extra awesome.
