First time visit to Antigua
The resort is beautiful, the water in the beach is crystal clear and the servers at the beach were very helpful and friendly. However the service staff needs some training in customer service . Was not made to feel welcome even at check in. The food in the restaurant was tasty and plentiful, but again ,most of the staff need training in people skills, had to ask for simple things like tea and hot water at breakfast time ,and no , it wasn’t crowded.

Royalton never again!
This property is definitely not an Autograph collection as listed on the website. Marriott should be embarrassed to have this property as part of their portfolio. We have stayed in so many of their properties and we have never experienced such poor level of service as we did this time. They are incredibly understaffed and the staff present seems to be overwhelmed and moody. The service is really not up to par at a property considered Autograph. The staff at all the restaurants is ill prepared, almost as if they were doing us a favor. The food is served cold We have to wait more than 20-30 minutes to be helped at any of the restaurants. The beach chairs are dirty. The sand at the beach is dirty with cigarette buds and bottle lids. Every time we asked for something it took us a great amount of time and energy to get it. As an ambassador member, we were told we had a nice room. Such room was on the second floor seeing all passing people in front of us with no privacy. We were told we needed Marriott bands to have access to an exclusive beach access. We could not get those bands until the next day after our arrival because the manager had them in the safe and she was never around. On top of all that, the property is old, and NOT AT ALL similar to what’s listed and pictured on the site. The hotel lacks maintenance. Our shower smelled like mold and have rust stains all over. And we’re not the only ones unhappy. We’ve talked with other Marriott members and they all felt the same way. Because we had such poor experience, we decided to leave one day earlier.

Royalton Vacation
Royalton was so fantastic we came for business. Heard really reviews regarding the gym. I had to try out the classes. I did a boot camp class with Mr. Awesome and yoga with Jameel. Would highly recommend it! If you travel to this resort, you need to check out the gym and the classes! The beach was the best too! Love the infinity pool over looking the water!

The good, bad and the ugly.....
Regrettably, this is not a 5 star hotel....it could be but there are many issues that would need to be resolved before that will happen. Let's start with the positives: - The location is excellent and the beach is beautiful - Most of the staff are polite and friendly -The coffee shop is good and the ladies who work in there are super polite The average bits: -The food is ok but never warm enough, the steaks are so tough even the steak knife was struggling to cut it! -The speciality restaurants were nothing special. The bad bits: -Constantly running out of things at the bar, I mean every day even beer, coke, mint, tomato juice, pineapple juice, coconut milk - you name it, they'd run out of it. -Some of the young ladies in the pool bar had a terrible attitude....I'm a big believer in politeness but some of the girls took your order in silence and handed you your drinks with a face like thunder - I just don't get it. -The room smelt badly of damp -Close by for 3 separate days the air was thick with an acrid smoke that hung around all day; this isn't good for the staff or customers - When we asked to keep our room prior to departing we were told 'NO' in a rather rude manner, when we pointed out the constant running out of things the manager said ''well, you should have come and told us'' - so you expect me to do your job!? It was like it was my fault for not reporting it. As it stands today I couldn't in good heart recommend going there; I feel bad as most of the staff are good BUT they are let down by some of their colleagues and weak, ineffective leadership. What really annoys me is that all these issues are long-standing and in myriad reviews but they just don't get fixed; this is down to poor management. So please don't even bother to reply because it's just empty words with no substance - spend your time fixing the issues not writing banal hollow feedback. Thanks.

Wasn’t as great as it was a year ago.
We stayed at the Royalton in March 2024 and loved it so we decided to go back and this time we brought our two kids (10/14). However this time, it seemed like they were short staffed and the service was not like it was a year ago. It’s a shame to pay so much money for a trip but not get the service you’d expect. I feel that overall, the resort was understaffed which seemed to make the employees stressed. No one ever seemed happy or overly friendly. Dinner reservations - nothing was ever available on the app. We had to go to a lady who sat by the buffet during the day to book. But availability was very limited and we had to just take whatever we could get. We ate at the steakhouse and my steak came out complete raw, it was basically seared quickly on each side and served. I had to send it back. Many times at the buffet we’d eat our meal without anyone bringing us water or anything to drink so we started to bring bottles of water with us from the room. The buffet stations where they cook fresh meat, seafood, and pasta didn’t always have someone working so people were frustrated. My kids only really ate the pasta and fresh meat so when they were open but not staffed, it was frustrating. We ate at Score a few times and a couple times we waited 20-30 minutes just to be acknowledged. I’d go to the bar and order my drinks and would ask if they could take our food order and was told we’d have to wait for the server. The beach is beautiful. The pools were great but the water was super cloudy one day. I don’t think we’ll go back.
