Never Returning
We recently returned from a 5 night DC stay. First and foremost we absolutely 💯 will NEVER return to this “resort”. Believe the negative reviews you are reading here and on Trip Advisor. I myself read all of the reviews before our trip and chose to ignore all of the negativity, thinking surely it couldn’t that bad because it looks like paradise. BIG MISTAKE! This place was by far a huge disappointment and waste of hard earned money. Check in was a slow painful process as we sat for multiple hours in the dirty, rundown DC lounge waiting for someone to help us. There are snacks in there, but they looked old and gross and picked over. Not a good first impression of the hotel. When we finally got to our “luxury” swim out room, it was also rundown, dirty and musty. In 5 days housekeeping came one time and the minibar was only restocked once. We had to ask for clean towels and empty our own trash. Butlers were useless, probably because they were so overbooked by everyone upgrading to DC. Messages were not returned about dinner reservations, we had to physically find our butlers and ask for reservations. In fact messages were not returned about any issue whether it be dining, housekeeping etc. Not one time could we find chairs by the DC pool or beach area, even when going out very early in the morning. Towels were covering literally all chairs by 7am. Buffets were disgusting, and we tried them out multiple times at different times of the day. Old food, no food, very poor service, no utensils available and just a filthy mess. Swim out pool had low water level and not filtering most of the time which caused the water to be dirty and cloudy. A few positives to add…properly is beautiful and the outdoor areas are lovely and well kept. Steakhouse was great, yes it’s slow but food was delicious. Teppanyaki was fun and food was good. Italian also decent. Did not like Rio, food overcooked and dry. We have done all levels of AIl-Inclusive in the DR and this was by far the worst. It’s definitely NOT a 5 star property, not even sure it’s a 3 star…Marriott should be ashamed to have their name attached to this property! I’m ashamed that I spent $1200 a night to stay here. Don’t be deceived and believe what others are saying about this place!

Enjoyed events but the room was really bad!!
Overall, our stay at this hotel was okay, primarily because my son enjoyed the events. However, there were several aspects that made us uncomfortable. Although we booked a room with two beds, we were assigned a room with only one. Additionally, the room was very humid and smelled like mold. We approached the reception to request a room change, but we were informed that all rooms were fully booked and advised to check back the next morning. Housekeeping provided an extra bed, but the mattress was covered in mold, which was absolutely disgusting. We felt unwell due to the mold and returned to the reception to raise the issue again. Finally, we were reassigned to another room with two beds. While this room only had a view of the back road, it was much more comfortable as there was no mold odor. Another issue was the air conditioning, which we could not adjust. Despite setting the temperature to 28℃, the room remained at 18℃. It was uncomfortably cold, but we couldn’t turn off the AC as the room would become excessively humid. Lastly, don’t expect any Platinum benefits at this property. We did not receive any perks during our stay.

Would not recommend
Unfortunately the employees at this hotel seem to hate the guests, even if you tip and speak fluent Spanish (which I thought would make a difference based on other reviews). There are a few nice employees (maybe 10% of them are friendly, including Jose making omelets in the buffet area), but for the most part people are only friendly if they can make money off you…and someone is constantly trying to sell you something. You’ll get asked 25x a day if you’re diamond and if you’re not, you’re obviously not special. Don’t attend the timeshare presentation, it’s just not worth it and they will keep you there a lot longer than the 20 minutes they will certainly claim. The beach is ok but people save seats at 5:30am and for hours they just sit empty — the worst I’ve ever seen on a vacation. We enjoyed our swim up room. I would never return to this hotel and am disappointed I spent so much money at a place where I felt actively disliked. I cannot believe this place is affiliated with Marriott.

Avoid the Royalton Bávaro!!!
Rooms were extremely dirty, food was terrible no flavor at all! Pools were very dirty and not maintained! I ordered a tomahawk steak for an up charge of $60 and had to send it back! It was not seasoned at all and tasted like I was eating rubber! I would not recommend staying here at all!

Double charged for room
We were double charged for our stay. Disputed the charge with our bank & the case is still pending. Before we checked out the hotel manger said they would correct the charges but that was never done. The resort was ok, rooms were a lil outdated but the resort was nice. We just want the charges corrected.
