Could be better..
Visited the Royalton for a first trip of a family of 3. I wanted something family friendly also very private at the same time. We decided to look into the swim outs. We were able to book the luxury swim out diamond club room. for a diamond club, there were nothing luxury about the room! we were put in a double bedroom, we saw this as an advantage only because we were traveling with an 8-month-old baby. check in process at the diamond club lounge was very smooth and they were helpful. we opted in on receiving a baby crib. after our room was ready, we were then greeted by our butler Hectic (which I will touch on how pointless his services were later) he proceeded to take us to our room and by surprise we did not expect how old this room was kept for being a part of the 'diamond club. the bathroom was actually the worst part. very moldy, walls were dirty, garbage can was old and dirty, above head shower was rusty and the shower doors were dirty (took pictures will upload) the bath towels were very old. after traveling for so long with a baby we decided on unpacking and figuring it out for the baby. I told my husband we will not be spending much time in the room, lets suck it up and move on. we aren't the ones that will complain because you live and learn (will not visit again.) and on top of that, we had our fussy baby who needed attention at that time. now for our butler! HECTOR. a waste of time. I've read previous reviews here on the butlers so after booking we thought it would help, again especially with the thought of having a baby. oh boy was i wrong! he did not show up at all. we got the impression it was because we did not give him a tip after spending 5 mins with him while he walked us to our room and showing us the app on how to book reservations for dinners. he gave us his whatapp to reach out if we needed anything. one day we actually needed his help and I called. he told me he was with another family and to give him 5 mins. 5 mins? it was 2 HRS and I had to go back to the diamond club lounge and someone called him. had that not happen, i would've been forgotten! he barely checked in. we've had butlers before at previous resorts and they were ALWAYS there! always reaching out throughout the stay. after he left on the first day, we were able to book a reservation on the first night at JADE. WHAT A DISASTER AND DISAPOINTMENT. we made a res for 730pm WITH A BABY at that. keep that in mind. we averaged on being there for an hour. IT TOOK AN ENTIRE HOUR before our food were brought to us and it was very bad. i would rate a 3/10. my husband ordered soup, it was cold and nasty. we left after sitting there for over an 1hr and 1/2, hungry and upset. Decided to put that behind us LOL! DAY #2. the buffet WAS OUR BESTFRIEND. breakfast and staff were 10/10. staff overall on the resort were very friendly. we were waiting on our butler to reach out to us. the entire day passed, and we heard from him towards the afternoon as he did mention he would've had someone reach out if he was not on shift. we explored the resort on our own, which is fine! we booked our spa massages and a cabana for a day with the help of our concierge JOSMI who was very helpful throughout our stay. most of the times she sat right outside of our room and was available also by WhatsApp for any questions. very sweet and helpful. We had dinner on night #2 at the buffet because we were unable to make a Reversation on the app like we were told too. it was damn near impossible and with that being said, we were supposed to reach out to the butler for any help with that. again, pointless. also, what about those guests without a butler? how are they receiving reservations? DAY #3 we are at the buffet again. my husband was able to grab a reservation at Hunter Steak one night. service was fine. I would give this experience a 6/10. food was okay. wait time did not help especially with an infant. for the remaining of our stay, we dined at the buffet. got a bit tired of it but again, it was impossible and with the two reservations we were able to get, the experience was not so great. shows at night were also okay. would rate 6/10. kept a few shows in the theatre which was uncomfortable because it was an enclosed area with NO AIR. our Cabana Day was also okay. you are not able to relax due to the vendors on the beach that kept coming up to you for services. it was actually all of the time. with all of this being said, bit disappointed with the Royalton. Stayed at previous Royalton's before and had a 100/100 experience. i would not recommend this resort!

Fabulous Honeymoon/Holiday
Just realised I posted this incorrectly into the Bavaro review thread when it should have been Royalton Punta Cana. I’ll try again to correctly post here and will delete the other one! Hey, we are just back home in the UK from spending 2 wonderful weeks here. Here’s my honest brief take! The resort itself is stunning, very well kept and can not be faulted. We renewed our wedding vows here and stayed in the Honeymoon Suite. No issues. We booked DC Hideaway. I didn’t like the fact that other non hideaway guests were using the Hideaway pool and section in general. That’s not fair and it’s not right but nobody says anything. We were hoping for a quiet relaxed holiday but the whole resort is quite loud and buzzy including the Hideaway (think 18-30s) although we realise it was spring break time. Our wedding planner (Arianna) was absolutely amazing and booked all of our restaurants for the 14 nights. We loved all of the restaurants especially Zen. We did not have any sickness or illness. We prepared with pro-biotics just in case. The food everywhere was amazing. We used the buffet on one occasion, no issues but we had restaurants and preferred Dorado for breakfast. Our butler, Carolina was also great and responded to all our needs (not many but that wasn’t her fault). She went on a break for the second week and we didn’t hear from her replacement but we never needed to. We absolutely loved the beach but only used the Hideaway beach area. We didn’t use the pools very much as they were too loud and buzzy for us. You can hear the thumping music from each pool. The hideaway section is only separated by a bush. I was also slightly concerned about the cleanliness of the hideaway pool but maybe that’s just me. On the day before we came home we decided to use the pool at Splash just to see. The short walk is beautiful. We wished we had done this much sooner. The pool at splash by reception with Bubbles Bar is much quieter and better and Franklin keeps that pool spotlessly clean and clear. The grill bar at Splash also had much more variety of food to choose from. We thought the entertainment was generic and I’d have preferred more DR / Caribbean type, rather than Madonna, Michael Jackson and Cha Cha Slide every night but I guess that’s probably just me also. We are a couple in our mid 50s after all… The staff here are all lovely and go out of their way to engage with you. They all work very hard. We had a lovely time, trying to make it as peaceful for us as possible because that’s our preference for a honeymoon/holiday/break. We didn’t leave resort. Take plenty of $ for tips to get a better and improved service. Take treble the amount of sunscreen you would normally use.

Foodborne Illnesses Rampant - Not Safe
This is the first negative review I have ever taken the time to write and have traveled extensively. I sincerely hope everyone with confirmed plans to travel here has a wonderful time. Vacation is, of course, what you make of it. We made the best of our time and had a nice week. Issues such as small and filthy pools (floating, grey, foamy substance in corners of pools), did not detract from our enjoyment. Bland, cold, and terrible tasting food was not ideal, but we survived on french fries and pina coladas. However, I feel morally obligated to warn future travelers that might be considering this resort. We traveled with a large group of approximately 30 people, of which approximately 1/3 became ill. My daughter has been sick since the day of departure with severe gastrointestinal symptoms and just left our local emergency room. Another member of our group tested positive for salmonella after also being seen in the emergency room locally. We have been in contact with a group from a different state, whom we met at the resort, and they too are ill and seeking medical treatment. We were all very careful and took recommended precautions while traveling. This resort has a major problem with food safety and I would strongly advise people spend their time and money elsewhere. I hope hotel management takes the time to reach out to me directly. My efforts to contact the hotel thus far have been unsuccessful. Please be safe everyone. Best Regards and Wishes to my fellow travelers.
