Just Right for a relaxing vacation
Second time we visited, once before covid and again last year. We are an older couple whos been to Mexico 2 every year for 20 years. We tend to try new places every year so it was unusual for us to go again. We upgraded to the 2 bedroom suite overlooking the gulf and were blown away. The other rooms all have a good view of the ocean but you are looking to the side. The reason we went twice is because my wife has very specific requests. 1) A breakfast buffet- She rated this as very good, not the best but very good 2) A room where you could see the ocean and hear the surf- see pictures 3) A beautiful san beach- well it's Cancun so yes. 4) Multiple restaurants- good but it's Mexico, don't order steak, order seafood Me, I work in a hectic environment. I want peace and quite. Well the loud pool music stopped a sundown and the party moved inside moved inside. I also prefer smaller resorts where I get to know the few people and not deal with thousands fighting for beach chairs. BTW, most people seemed to prefer the pools while we like the beach. Now this is not the 5 star, high end resort where they try to hard sell you a vacation club membership. But its also not a dirty, run down place where your room cleaning is an adventure. We've experienced both. For us, Sandos is just right. We are going back next month.

Very welcoming environment
Everyone was friendly, Pedro was our waiter and he was quick to help us answer any questions , Miguel also was very attentive to us. Our experience was wonderful! Their recommendations were great and food was adequate, you must try the lasagna!

A bit noisy and entertainment limited, but very pleasant
A pleasant stay, and I feel that way even though it rained 3 1/2 days out of seven. The only really bad aspect was the 10-12 turbines/fans from the adjoining monolithic Secrets hotel, which sounded a bit like a helicopter landing pad by the pool and in the odd-number rooms over the Sandos pool. To avoid that, the even number rooms on the wedding venue side are worth paying for, and they have a nice view of the ocean and lagoon. Thanks to concierge staff Stefan and Jessica for sorting out that problem. I was concerned after reading several negative reviews in the last six months, but found them a bit exaggerated. They accurately identified some things that would justify a less than 5 star rating, but the food was actually very enjoyable, we had no problem finding places to sit by the pools or on the beach, the gym had a very full range of operational aerobic and weight machines, Abraham was an amazing massage pro, our balcony room was spacious with a large bathroom, all the staff were very nice, beach vendors were pleasant and non-intrusive, police patrolled the beach very regularly, etc. Beer on tap was limited to Dos Equis but the wines and cocktails were great quality. I was able to book a la carte restaurants four nights with a great dinner show the fifth. Less positive was the entertainment. The main floor bar (great bartenders), where scarce indoor entertainment was focussed, had seating for only 40 guests, and live performances lasted only 45 minutes. There is an over-reliance on very loud DJ beats for several hours each day in the pool area and also as backup for live indoor performances. But overall, an enjoyable vacation for adults.
