  Travelers beware

  With so much in the news about Sandos playacar I decided to share my families experience with Sandos Caracol Eco. We stayed Jan6-13 group of five four adults and one child. Each of us got so sick to the point where I was ready to go to the hospital. Thankfully my family came prepared with every medication under the sun and we were able to make it back home where it still took almost a week to even feel human again. We are avid travelers and have never experienced anything like this before. Throughout the week we made friends with other guests who were experiencing the same sickness as we were. Overall was a vacation from hell. Putting getting sick aside the resort it self definitely needs some love it's age is showing. If you are a beach person this resort is not for you the beach is awful so rocky it is unsafe to actually go in the water unless you walk way down the beach to find a safe spot. The animals and wildlife was the highlight for us. Rooms were decent with the exception upon arrival our first room had a couple inches of water on the floor. We will not be back at this resort or Sany Sandos for that matter.

  Fell ill quickly after arrival.

  This has to be one of the worst places i have ever stayed. So many people were sick. We had thought maybe it was the water and since they are Eco-friendly. They had absolutely no bottled water. They closed the restaurants after they blamed people for bringing a virus with them. STAY AWAY FROM PLACES LIKE THIS. They are not helpful at all but will lie and say they are. Worst vacation on 30yrs.

  Give a little head up

  I don’t recommend for a couple it is mostly kids resorts buffet style food is ok beach is disgusting seaweed and rock it is outdated need improvement activity just for kids nat mush to do for adults need training for coffee making I have to walked to get my coffee and coffee wasn’t hot just warm

  Summer Camp Buffets and Lodgings...Upgrade If You Can

  Be careful in booking this resort. If you're not paying extra to book at a higher tier, you're getting, essentially, summer camp food and lodgings. The buffets are barely edible and the a la cartes are quite good. Lovely grounds with animals and a cenote on site. Rooms have a summer camp feel and some rooms are dirty. We complained quite a bit and reception did respond to our complaints.

  One time visit and never again!

  Trying to think of some positives and it’s really hard. Some of the staff are great, being in the jungle is neat and seeing the wildlife is fun. The beds are comfortable. The negatives. First day getting to our room and the safe is low battery so it won’t work but that’s where the app has been great. It took 10 mins to using the app and the safe getting fixed. Not that we watch a lot of tv but it’s nice to have while waiting for people to get ready but it doesn’t work The food!!!!! By day 3 I cringed at the thought of eating anywhere in the resort. Food is cold and just not appealing. Line ups are long and selection is weak. In the international I let them know that one basket of buns and hundreds of ants in it. The guy just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. We have come with family and we are in all areas of the resort. Myself and my husband are in the adults select area. Rooms are ok, breakfast in the Brazil restaurant has been great. My sister and her family are in the select rooms by the ocean and pool. Her room is plain but close to everything and my brother and his family are in the family area. His room is by far the nicest room as it looks like it has just been newly renovated. We walked in his room and found out we all should have had a fruit plate and bottle of champagne in all our rooms. Rooms should all of a checklist before saying they’re ready for guests. My sister also had to get her safe looked at as hers wasn’t working. This resort was probably really nice 10 years ago but the upkeep has been nonexistent I think. We had one day that it poured in the evening and the sports bar and main lobby have soooo many holes in the roof. Water was everywhere. One last note the staff at the pool seemed very unprofessional. 4 of them were wrestling and causing a scene. One girl was on the ground while one guy was ripping her shoe off. Another girl jumped on that guys back while the other guy was pulling the girls arms that was on the ground while Horse playing like that is definitely not setting a good example for the kids.
