  Best kept Secrets

  Proper 5 star resort. We stayed in a Junior Ocean View suite in the Preferred Club. Complimentary Mini Bar refilled every day, private pools, restaurant, bar and pool area. All very swish. Service is friendly and efficient. Only a 1km walk from Puerto Calero which is quiet but classy. Did not go all inclusive and glad in the end. Resort restaurants looked a little boring. Recommended

  Professional, relaxing experience

  This was my first full body massage, which was a very relaxing experience, taking into consideration any medical conditions and on areas that need the gentle touch, (e.g. Scars) Also offered suggestions as after care for me to continue with, definitely recommended 👌

  Quality has dropped in places

  We visited just over a year ago and decided to return as we'd enjoyed it and the set up made for an easy week. Unfortunately quality in some areas has dropped and we won't return again. We did the preferred club, which gave us lots of food options and the lounge area. The breakfast and lunch was great in terms of options and quality. However the queue that formed at breakfast to get checked in because every guest had their room numbers checked off two lists before being seated by just one member of staff was annoying. Lunch in Oceana was always good and the service tended to be spot on with friendly, efficient staff. Unfortunately all of the food in the evening we found to be pretty average (and on one occasion poor) and inconsistent (my partner had the same dish on two consecutive nights and the first was good, the second poor). The service was very patchy in the evening, mostly the staff were friendly but often the service was slow, difficult to get drinks and it felt like either there were not enough of them or they were not being well enough organised. We walked into town one evening and had a lovely, very reasonably priced meal at Coentro - much higher quality food, great service - perhaps they should send their teams on a visit here to see how it's done! I felt some areas of the resort are starting to look quite tired - cracked tiles, scuffed paint, lifts out of order, threadbare towels, etc. Also since we last came there were no umbrellas by the preferred pool that were moveable, so it was difficult to get shade through the day (my partner prefers shade, I like sun so we tend to move the umbrellas around to suit) and the pool area was quite busy this time so it wasn't an option to move through the day. We had a lovely sea view from our room, however unfortunately in overlooked the sports bar and on one evening when we were having a pre-dinner drink on the balcony there was lots of shouting and cheering, which disturbed our peace somewhat.

  Let down

  The front of house staff were excellent but shame it stopped there. One young lady and a man who greeted us and helped with luggage would be a credit to any business they work for in the future. There needs to be a huge retraining program and rethinking about “All Inclusive “

  1 week in sunny secrets.

  Lovely rooms, everything was spotless. Daily room service is always late afternoon. Our mini bar and coffee were not topped up every day, as we aren’t big drinkers it didn’t matter but it was advertised as such. Staff work very hard and are very helpful, however we did encounter some difficulties. We booked preferred half board not completely understanding that there were a lot of restrictions so we upgraded to all inclusive the morning after arriving, paying an extra €900, however on departure this was not reflected in our bill and it took some time to sort it out. Also for the first 3 days we were denied some dining opportunities at times due to some confusion on our upgrade, having to leave a restaurant on one occasion . For anyone with food allergies choice is very limited and the kitchens don’t seem to be able to alter a dish to help with that. Food is ok, definitely not 5* but fine. Breakfast was very good, great variety etc. Cava flows at every meal and a nice touch you are offered a glass on arrival and when entering the 2 main restaurants. Bar staff at evening entertainment are wonderful and work exceptionally hard to keep service flowing. We have going to Lanzarote for many years. While we had a nice holiday we have had better, and overall I feel we probably would not return to Secrets.
