Jan 19, 2025A fully worth it resort!
Just got back from our anniversary trip. I highly recommend Secrets Papagayo. To start off, the resort is on a hill and the restaurant can be challenging from some rooms, but the resort staff make navigating the hills very easy with constant shuttles. We stayed on the quiet side in room 340 which was a short walk to the pool and Aqua bar. From the Aqua bar, we had a short beach walk to the main area. So while we didn’t use the shuttles as often, we were treated very well when we did. The food offered at the resort was like food everywhere. Some of it good and some of it not to our liking. However, with almost limitless options, we were able to try most foods at most restaurants. Ordering room service was also simple for the times we just wanted to relax in our Secrets robes. We did not try most resort sponsored activities but we were invited on multiple occasions to join in. The people who work there put a lot of effort into their jobs and it shows. The wildlife was very active during our stay. It was very enjoyable hearing all the different bird calls in the morning. We saw a lot of birds and many curious iguanas during our stay. The rooms were very nice and housekeeping was easy to call for using the Hyatt inclusive app. The only drawback was the shower door was leaking and we had to sip up the water after showering. Be prepared to relax and lose track of time if you choose this resort. Like, literally lose track of time. We only saw one clock on the property, including rooms lol

Jan 19, 2025Secrets Papagayo. Do Not Papa Go Yo!!
This property was run down and dilapidated. Restaurant quality was embarrassing, pool has about 35 chairs for the whole resort, hot tub didn’t work, constant hecklers at the beach trying to sell you items. Would never return or recommend anyone waste their time and money on this resort.

Pura Vida
Very professional and attentive staff. Beautiful location and all our wants were attended to. The room was clean and comfortable and the public areas were clean and well kept. Plenty of activity options available or just kick back and relax or both. Pura Vida!

Secrets Papagayo Costa Rica Review Our Disappointing Stay: A Summary • Duration: Almost done with our one-week stay. • Conclusion: Will not be back. Issues with the Resort: • Pools: ◦ Two extremely small pools. ◦ Virtually no chairs. ◦ Claim a chair by 7 am or forget getting a pool chair *Beach -Black sand, water murky 4 chairs at beach • Location: Not near anything, so there's nothing else to do here. 1.5 hours to tourist attractions • Stress Factor: Daily stress wondering if we would get a chair by the pool. • Expectation vs. Reality: Not what you want from a vacation. • Quality: ◦ The worst Secrets resort we've been to. ◦ Counting the days until we leave. Facilities and Maintenance: • Food: Below average. • Service: Subpar. • Housekeeping: ◦ Skipped our room many days. ◦ No turndown service. • Bathrooms: ◦ Caulk everywhere and leaking. ◦ Smell of mildew ◦ Mold in the shower. Accessibility: • Terrain: Extremely hilly, making it difficult to get around. ◦ Vans are available but run on the same sidewalks you walk on. ◦ Was pushed off the sidewalk into a gully a couple of times. Cost: • Warning: Costa Rica is extremely expensive. • Tours: All tours are $175 per person and up. Final Thoughts: If you want a stressful vacation, go here. Otherwise, go somewhere else. We are never coming back. ---

A grand time!
Staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Resort was very clean and the environment was overall very pleasant. Fernanda, Yesner, Randy, Giovanni, and Jorge are only some of those who helped make my visit to Secrets a great one! There was great entertainment during the day poolside and at night.
