Dec 24, 2024I would reconsider
The service is quite mixed and confusing, from servers who are very nice and polite (an older gentleman at the Mexican restaurant and a young lady at the Italian place) to people who barely want to talk to you and throw the plates at your table. A very similar situation at the beach, from somewhat hostile to very welcoming. The toilets at the beach are often lacking soap and tissues. Food at this resort is rather average and disappointing, with some surprises - we were in love with two absolutely delicious deserts (the panna cotta at the Italian place and the chocolate mole cake at the Mexican place). Interestingly, the restaurants here make their lemonade from powder, not from lemon juice. I really didn't expect that at such a rather expensive resort. Also, there is no way to get yogurt that is not sweetened (which is annoying). There is no way you can get Uber from this resort, they made a special route for Uber which adds 4 miles (20 plus minutes) to the waiting time and Uber drivers will cancel on you. They resort wants you to surrender and take their own overpriced transport. The spa has very nice staff, but their massage was more of a less just a full body rub, not a professional massage at all. Their restaurant app is so messed up, if you try to order room service it will say the food will arrive in two hours (!!!), so if you decide to order for tomorrow they will bring the food in two hours on the same day anyway (it happened twice!!!). The facilities are in general well maintained (with some parts slightly falling apart) with a nice landscaping, we loved the lights in the evening. The resort looks more elegant at night. Swimming pools had a very nice warm temperature of the water. Shockingly, there was barely any decor for Christmas, basically, nothing. I was totally surprised. The color choices for this resort are grey and brown, not very happy colors, and it seems that the management is color averse. No decor, no art, barely any flowers, just very neutral spaces without much character. But the basic design of the facility is practical and user friendly. The water in the ocean has a truly beautiful color during sunny days.

Resort and service is awesome , food at best 4. To each their own, from what I saw would not do a swim up, was supposed to have an Oc view pref sw out, got upgraded to 1012 which is jr suite alongside the private pool, master suites…that was awesome! Great service from the beach bar staff. I want to stress that All staff were amazing. I saw some posts before I left about concerns they are a few months away from a Reno…I saw no evidence that they were close or needed a Reno!

My home away from home. There are so many places/resorts in the Cancun area to stay and the ocean and the sun are the same wherever you go. The wonderful people at Secrets Playa Mujeres are the reason I have been to This resort 12 times now. There are so many smiles throughout the days - it makes it hard to think about staying anywhere else. Martha /Alejandro and Jaime the Pool concierges. Phillipe pool guy Diana preferred club bartender. Maria jesus and Katia Pool servers Eugenia Barefoot grill server. Ruben my sweet friend at Market cafe - server. Melissa, Christina and Ruben chief. Market cafe host America Octavio, Alex and the sweet gal whose name means flower at the Preferred club - Karina Uvc rep (hugs) Salame our wonderful housekeeper and of course the bell guys Heifer and Christian. The guys that drive the golf carts always with a smile and how is your day? love you all. We cannot say enough wonderful things about dear Diego...Family is everything and you are all my Family. See you all soon!

The staff is top notch
The staff is the true gem at this resort! We would like to recognize three individuals in particular. Enrique in the market café was so friendly when we first arrived, he was like this throughout our entire stay and it really brightened our day. Artemio in the French restaurant was friendly and knowledgeable, he indulged us in taking pictures even though he was very busy. Daniella with the Entertainment Staff was warm and conversational, we had such fun chatting with her as we made bracelets and saw her smiling face throughout the week. Thank you to the entire staff for making our stay so memorable, and in particular these three individuals. They are a true asset to the resort!

Wonderful staff that goes above and beyond
The most wonderful relaxing trip with the kindest, caring attentive staff that really go beyond and above to make you part of the family. Enrique our waiter at the buffet made us feel so welcome with his warm smiles and attentiveness. Artemio at the French restaurant made every moment special. And Daniela who we bonded over bracelet making was the sweetest person who made us feel part of the secrets family.
