Horrible. Worst experience I’ve ever had.
We are posting this because of a buyer beware. We have picked this resort because of reviews but it the reality is very bad. Sadly this is just brief overview of how bad our experience is. There is so much detail but we want to get out major pints to start. This is the worst service and quality I have ever had in the 25 years I’ve travelled and I’ve been to 20+ countries and multiple time in most of them. The alcohol I’d the worst quality we’ve had.. Food is not good. Steak is boiled. We had to switch rooms after there were dead bugs in our tub, there were no bathroom supplies, the air and fan didn’t work. I tried to open the patio and a metal rod fell out hitting me in the head. I reported all of this and they didn’t. care. They changed our room due to the fridge, safe and fan not working. We brought up the safety issues and they brushed it under the rug as if they are not acknowledging it because they don’t want to be accountable for it. They were supposed to move our luggage after we packed it but they didn’t. It was over two hours later and they didn’t move our luggage. I had to go to the desk to ask about it. They said they should have done it but they didn’t so we ended up having to move it ourselves The power keeps cutting out every day multiple times. There is not wifi throughout the resort We had an emergency going on at home and had trouble dealing with it because we did not have wifi access We got in trouble for playing a speaking very low in the sports bar which we were sitting in because there is no where else to sit. The manager said we couldn’t play it because it interfered with the with music they were playing but they weren’t playing any. He said they would but never did and ours was low and other people sat close to us for the music. Others play music in their own speakers all the time and they are not told to stop but we were. We have been trying to engage with the entertainment crew and staff to encourage fun and good times which we have been doing. The entertainment crew loves us. The staff is great and are trying but the owners/management is making the experience horrible. They do not have enough pool/beach chairs or umbrellas for the amount of people in their resort. We called the front desk and they say a couple words not addressing the issue we are bringing up and they just hang up on us. I just needed to get this much out but there is so much more. Even when they got us to switch rooms they wanted us to sign off that we were satisfied because they changed our room even through there was soooooooii much more to address that they didn’t it want to. More to come on how bad this resort is. Just too much to post but don’t come here. Even for the price it is not worth it!!!!! It is not a you get what you pay for here. You get less then you pay for here.

Recommend but it’s just under a four star.
Good resort. But more a 3.5 to 4 star. Not a 5 star. Food was adequate, but missing the layout of Iberostar or Riu resorts. We had a swim up room facing ocean which was absolutely amazing! The view everyday was breathtaking. Highly recommend this upgrade. Italian restaurant undercooked the chicken. Japanese overcooked the teriyaki. Souchi and steak house were very good.

Not a bad spot.
We selected this hotel as part of our excursion with our cruise line. The pool was great. The beach was also nice, but the chairs on the beach need replaced. Food at the buffet for lunch was a little under average. Still a great beach day though!

Senator was excellent...
The Senator resort... PROS: I sent an email to their customer service 10 days before visit, and made several requests e.g. Upper floor, balcony etc. All requests were honoured. Food was excellent, plenty of variety. Rooms were very clean, no bugs. Fridge was stocked up daily with water and pop. Staff were very good. Beach was great. CONS: Flies in the buffet, but that is inevitable in these hot climate resorts. Didn't see many people tipping the staff. On two occasions I saw ignorant tourists aggressively berating the staff. On one occasion a male was screaming at two of the female housekeepers, it's a pity that he could not get a short stay in another Dominican resort were the food was restricted to bread and water. Idiots, unfortunately on both occasions the men involved seemed to be Canadian or American. It's a good idea to monitor the price for a period before booking as it fluctuates. Overall I thought the Senator resort was excellent, and I would not hesitate to return.

Good but not a 4.5 star
We were there with a group for a week in December 2024. Positive: nice pools and animation at the pool ( but not the quiet and relaxing that I was looking for) Lots or trees on the beach to get some shade Negative: Repetitive food at the buffet, we were only entitled to 2 “a la carte” restaurant during our stay. LOTS of flies at the buffet, they let doors open and let them in! There were so many that I almost swallowed one who got into my drink. Once, I found one underneath my pasta dead in the sauce. Room: bloc 10. Needs renovations but was well maintained by staff. I asked for an ironing board that never came so I ended up borrowing one from another guest Evening entertainment was a deception. we ended up going to the sister hotel next door which had much more entertainment and a nicer stage
