Built around legendary Pu‘u Keka‘a (Black Rock) on 23 oceanfront acres and the world’s favorite beach, Sheraton Maui Resort is where exceptional location finds deep intention. While our nightly lele kawa (cliff diving) ritual is most famous, every aspect of our spacious retreat welcomes guests to dive into the timeless, rejuvenating essence of Ka?anapali. From exhilarating ocean adventures to soothing treatments at The Spa at Black Rock. From deeply rooted cultural journeys to bright and refreshing cocktails served poolside. And around every corner you’ll discover spectacular views and wide open spaces for soulful reflection and a deeper connection to nature. With 83 percent of rooms offering pristine views of the ocean and neighboring islands, Molokai and Lanai, there may be no land-based vantage point better for watching whales and the sun setting into the Pacific. What an experience!
Amazing views, amazing staff! I felt pampered and valued as a guest there! There is so much to do on property, no reason to leave. The pools are awesome if you don't want to go to the beach but if you do, it is just a few steps from your room. We watched the cliffdiver but you can do it yourself if you want!

More pros than cons, but could definitely use improvement
Pros Gorgeous facility. Really loved ocean view room. Great bracelet room key. Staff was wonderful. Rosita in housekeeping deserves particular praise. Really great daily yoga classes with Romain Yoga. While initially I groaned at the 7:30 am start time, any later would have been too hot. Breakfast was great BUT Cons When we checked in, we were told continental breakfast was included, upgrade to hot options was $15. When we went to breakfast the next day, and every day after, breakfast upgrade was $19. They didn’t care that we had been told $15 at check-in. There was only ever one person at the check in desk for the first four days of our stay. So when our room key didn’t work, as always happens, we had to wait in line with people checking in to have our room key reset. We also waited in line two days before we checked out to request late check-out only to be told we couldn’t request late checkout until the day before. They couldn’t have just entered the request in the computer? Fortunately, finally there were two people at the desk the day before, and they took and honored our request for late checkout. Thank you. While housekeeping was excellent, there were dirty mops and rags left out for a couple of days. The logo’d water bottles were nice, but poorly designed; you have to remove the top completely to drink from the ridged edges. While the facility is gorgeous, it could use sprucing up. It looks a little tired. But it’s Hawaii! we were thrilled to be there. Thank you.

Great property
Amazing wonderful vacation at a beautiful spot in Maui. Of all the hotels in the strip of resorts the beach here is the finest. The sand is super soft, there’re turtles and fish that swim near the rocks, and the beauty of the sunsets are picturesque. We felt exceptionally well taken care of by Anjelica who provided exceptional service and catered to our needs. We enjoyed our family suite along with the breakfast buffet when upgraded for $15 allows for full access along with papayas which is a pleasant surprise! All in all the resort is a tad dated in feel but still well kept, expansive open grounds that have a luxe feel. Another pleasant plus is that this property does not force you to check out towels and penalize you for return. The pools are also impressively designed allowing for winding pathways throughout the property along with shallow splash zones for kids.

Sheraton Maui- Location, Location and Location !
You can’t beat the location of the Sheraton Maui which is tucked in next to Black Rock. You can walk right out of the hotel and jump in the water and swim with tropical fish and green sea turtles. You can also watch the cliff diver ceremony every night just before sunset. I’ve stayed at the hotel several times and my favorite building is #4 where we were able to see Black Rock, the Sheraton pool, the beach, and many sailboats (see photo). We rented snorkel equipment at the Sheraton beach shack and one of the pool attendants, Codiac, was always smiling and willing to help. The pool is very refreshing and a great place to escape the heat. My only complaint is that the Sheraton did not monitor people who were not staying at the hotel using the pool and the lounge chairs. One guy was bragging how he could just buy a beer at the Sheraton restaurant and then use the pool for the day. They really should reserve the pool for the paying guests. The breakfast buffet was good especially the made-to-order omelets. I was happy with our stay and would happily return.

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa Review – Thanksgiving Week 2024 - Maui Invitational
After several trips to Oahu dating back to the mid-1970s, this was our first trip to Maui. The “excuse” was the Maui Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Lahaina Civic Center. We spent 7 nights at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, which was the team hotel for our Michigan State University Spartans. We stayed in Building 6, Maona Hale, on the ground floor. The location of the property – and our hotel tower in particular – was outstanding, with spectacular ocean views. It is also very quiet – a bit off to the side from the main strip. Still, all of the other resorts, bars, and restaurants in the Kaanapali area are within easy walking distance. The beach with beach towels, snorkel equipment, etc. are easily accessible right from the beach. A couple of beach bars provide refreshments and a reasonable selection of bar food. They also have several TVs each, in case your favorite team happens to be playing while you also want to be near the beach, food, and drink. The hotel layout takes some getting used to, and, if you are staying in the Maona Hale towers, it takes a 5 – 10-minute walk to get to the beach/lobby/pool/bar areas. The breakfast buffet, with omelet station, offers a wide selection of breakfast items – which it should at $42 per person, mimosas not included. Tip: if you are going for an omelet, order it first, then get your other warm items. Otherwise they will be cold by the time your omelet is ready. Unfortunately, our room on the ground floor was very dated. The dark brown carpet was moist/sticky and torn in several places. We did not want to walk on it barefoot! Was it still the carpet they originally installed in 1963? Same for the beds: they felt very old and well past their due date, at least for mattrass replacement. The shower was an old-style bathtub with curtain – more Motel 6ish than an upscale resort Marriott property. Overall, the property was terrific, the location outstanding, and the staff very warm and friendly. We’ll stay there again, but only after we can confirm they have at least replaced the carpet and mattresses, so the room gets a bit closer to what one would expect for a 4-figure nightly room rate.
