Meh! I’d opt for another Hotel
Our group stayed at this hotel for a wedding, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing in many aspects. The hospitality from the front desk and general staff was far from welcoming—many interactions felt rude and unprofessional. The hotel itself is in dire need of updates. Numerous appliances were outdated and in poor condition, making the stay less comfortable than expected. The air conditioning system, in particular, was subpar, which was especially frustrating given the high price of staying here. Additionally, the hotel imposes a lot of rules and regulations, which felt excessive for a luxury property. Some flexibility and better customer service training could make a huge difference. On a positive note, the waitstaff at the restaurants and the housekeeping team were exceptional. They were sweet, humble, and provided a level of service that stood out compared to the rest of the staff. Overall, while some individuals made the stay more pleasant, the lack of hospitality, outdated facilities, and rigid policies make it hard to justify the cost.

Very enjoyable vacation
fantastic view of all the airliners on Maho Beach Got to witness it live over our heads Everything about our vacation was very nice, I probably would not get the swim out room if I went back as it was beautiful but the sun goes behind the building by 415PM and most days I was still at the beach. Food was very good in all restaurants our favorite was Azul, we were able to have a steak for dinner and for lunch a delicious burger, Some names who gave excellent service. Jane at breakfast buffet Jennifer at Azul Jeannel at Azul dinner, Jonathan smiley delivered coffee to our room everyday, special guy. There was some shopping outside the hotel but we took a cab to the french side and went to the flea market. The views at all of the restaurants was fabulous and all of the staff were friendly, Every other day there was a grill set up for hamburgers and hotdogs which was a plus if you wanted a snack before dinner the only negative was I had a bad experience with the locals trying to do massages on the beach. On our first day they convinced us to try them out for 10 minutes and then proceeded to ask for $120.00 completely caught me off guard and very uncomfortable as they knew I had cash, My husband actually had words with the man masseuse about ripping us off on our first day, just be careful Beach was not big enough for us but we swam everyday and had our beach chairs just above the wall where the jetty was . All in all it was a good vacation

Beautiful Location, Mixed Service Experience
I recently stayed at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort from December 30th - January 3rd, and while my experience was okay, it didn't quite meet the high expectations I had. The location is beautiful, with stunning views and a lovely beach setting that makes for a great getaway. However, some aspects of my stay left me wanting more. One notable downside was the inconsistency in staff friendliness. While some team members were warm and welcoming, others seemed disinterested, which impacted the overall atmosphere of the resort. Despite this, I had the pleasure of meeting some genuinely fantastic staff members. The bartender, EDDIE in the casino lobby was an absolute gem! He made the best lemon drops I’ve ever had, and his positive energy brightened my evenings. We owned Karaoke! lol! Dining at the buffet was another highlight of my stay, largely thanks to the wonderful service from MS. ROSE, MS. SHARON, and ENRIQUE. They were always friendly, greeted guests with a smile, and made us feel truly welcomed. Their warmth was a breath of fresh air amidst the mixed experiences with other staff members. On the bright side, I also met some really cool people during my stay, which added to the fun and made the trip enjoyable overall. My family played a huge role in making this vacation memorable, and I cherish the moments we shared together. In summary, the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort has its strengths, especially in location and some outstanding staff members, but there is room for improvement in customer service. I hope my feedback can help enhance the experience for future guests. Would I return? Perhaps, if the staff consistency improves. Stars: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)

Look at other options for your stay on St. Martin
I have never written a negative review for a hotel before despite reasons to do so but I feel compelled to write a review for our recent trip to the Sonesta Maho Resort from Dec. 26 to Jan. 3, 2025 . We have stayed at this hotel on a number of prior occasions but unfortunately this time was the last. Our room was on the third floor. The bedroom smelled liked urine in particular close to the curtains (the hotel allows dogs so perhaps a dog urgently needed to go). We were located (i) adjacent to the gym which does not have a properly matted floor (hardwood) meaning, every time a weight was dropped, the sound reverberated throughout our room from early in the morning when the gym opened until it closed for the day (the first morning we actually thought there was construction going on outside - I pity the guests staying directly below the gym), (ii) the non-sound proofed wall to the bedroom was directly across from elevators and a sitting area (high volume of noise) and (ii) above the doors to the courtyard/pool area where speakers are located with music playing from early morning to late at night. Needless to say, sleep was elusive in what was intended to be a restorative vacation. Our room had a coffee maker but getting coffee pods was an uphill battle. The first time we asked it took almost twelve hours for coffee pods to arrive (after calling the front desk and then speaking with the manager). There must be a shortage of coffee pods because after that we didn't receive any even after requesting them - we gave up. We talked with the front desk including the manager on a number of occasions about the noise, the coffee, the room cleanliness but were met largely with indifference, almost as if guest concerns were an inconvenience (some eye-rolling noted). The manager did offer to move us to the first floor but that would not have solved all of the noise problems and increased security concerns with easy access to ground floor hotel rooms (although I do note that the hotel has increased its vigilance in terms of ensuring those entering are hotel guests). The rest (i) the hotel does not have enough pool/beach loungers for all of its guests, there a large number of broken loungers that have not been removed and the pool staff does not enforce the hotel policy that if items are left on a chair for longer than thirty minutes, they will be removed and (ii) guest communication about potential illness - my husband overheard staff talking about an outbreak of Norwalk virus (a very contagious stomach virus). We appreciate that the hotel cannot control an illness entering the hotel but it should do better at communicating that with its guests so that they can decide what personal precautions they should take. The bright side (i) the staff at the hotel beach grill are terrific, the food is good and service is fast and (ii) the New Year's Eve fireworks at Maho Beach were really well done. St. Martin is a beautiful island but the next time we go, we won't be staying at the Sonesta which I say with regret as it was once a top-notch hotel with impeccable service.

Beautiful island
I had a great time, see Damion at the Palms grill for good drinks night time. The staff were helpful and nice. We never got the rude staff like people say. As far as entertainment it was OK for the most part. Beautiful views though. Had some Caribbean food rice and peas jerk chicken lunch time, bake and salt fish some days at breakfast . To take pictures with the plane it's about a 5 min walk on the beach to get to it literally you're not far imagine if you had no suitcase you can walk to the airport. The clubs are across the street and down the block and some upstairs by the hotel when you walk on the door.
