Poor Value for Money; Not a 5-Star
We attended the Sonesta Ocean Point Resort in December 2024 for one week. The resort itself is beautiful, located on the cliff's edge and in very close proximity to the airport. There are good amenities in walkable range, including the casino and many high-end restaurants. The dining at the resort is premiere, with the Italian-inspired Portofino leading the way. There are some notable deficiencies however that detract from the experience and place this vacation closer to a 3-Star than the advertised 5-Star experience. Service and Staff Attitude Service was poor to confrontational. There is absolutely no pool-side service, which is expected at any high-end luxury resort. There did appear to be staff present who were supposed to provide this service, but for whatever reason they refused to do so. Lobby staff refused to action basic requests and were both rude and unhelpful when we made inquiries of the private dining experiences and spa bookings. Bar service was mixed, with some expressing pleasantries and others appearing to be bothered at the prospect of your simple request for a beverage. We experienced at least three negative confrontations with staff that impacted our experience negatively and affected which locations we attended for the remainder of the week. Nightlife Nightlife is non-existent here. If you are seeking late night cocktails, music or to engage with other travelers, this is not the destination for you. The resort becomes a ghost-town after 10pm. Beach There is no beach to sit on. There is a small area of sand that is barely accessible and at your own peril. If you are looking for the traditional beach experience, this is not the resort for you. Exclusivity The Ocean Point is advertised as an exclusive/premium experience, however many key amenities are only available on the larger Maho Beach side of the property, including coffee, buffets and stores. Some of the best attractions are actually located on the Maho Beach side of the resort, including the casino bar and rooftop snack bar, which are arguably the most interesting places on the property. Confusion As other guests have shared, it is a challenge to ascertain where restaurants are located and when they are open. This was unusually challenging for a Caribbean destination and there is little by way of help. The resort will undoubtedly reply that this information is available on the internet or their app and while this may be true, you will be required to actively investigate what is open throughout your stay. We found this to be an annoyance, particularly as some of the restaurants were not open when they were scheduled to be open, and some never seemed open at all. Value Overall, the value for money is poor. You will not feel as if you are receiving a premium, exclusive experience. You are better off staying on the Maho Beach side for a lesser fee or looking elsewhere.

A very nice place but beware of a few things lacking
Over all a very nice resort. I did NOT get the room I was told and ended up looking out over a roof with a limited ocean view. Could not enjoy the patio. Staff didn't do much to get me another room. Positives Establishment very clean. All Staff very friendly and spoke English. (Alot of other Caribbean resorts just put bodies in there and when you ask a question they replay no ingles). Food for an all inclusive resort was very good. if you think you are getting 5 star dining and quality at an all inclusive that just does not happen. All waiters were very nice and went out of their way for you. House keeping was terrif. I had a few minor issues with the room but they were resolved quickly. All pools were very clean. No riff raff which I had seen at other all inclusive resorts. Plenty of security so you know you are safe Things to be aware of but not going to call them negative. A lack of activities and entertainment. The place is next to the airport. While the planes taking off and coming in are an attraction, at dinner the noise could be disruptive especially while having conversations. There is no real beach at the resort like other all inclusive resorts. You had to walk 10 maybe 15 minutes to Mullet Bay beach, which was very nice but you had to pay 20-30 dollars for chairs, umbrellas and tables. The place does need some paint and floors to be replaced in the corridors where the rooms are. This is common in alot of resorts as the winds and ocean breezes and moisture do take there tolls quickly.

Simply amazing.
We are here now. Half way through our stay. This place is amazing. The hotel staff has all been accommodating, friendly and helpful. The grounds are clean and well maintained. This is an adults only resort. American beers and awesome beverage choices. Food has not disappointed. Contesting needed for dinner. My only suggestion is a little more lighting at night. If we get the chance to come back we would stay here again. Oh and the planes flying over is pretty cool. Loud but cool.

Great Vacation at Ocean Point.
Relaxing vacation. Stay at the Ocean Point Sonesta. The other Sonesta connected to the resort was for families and much busier. Ocean Point was relaxing, less people, and excellent service. We ate at Azul for lunch and dinner almost every day and night. The food and service were excellent. Jennifer at Azul was warm and bubbly. Kim at Azul was amazing, funny, and never let our drink glasses become empty. Carlos at the Sunset bar was hilarious and provided awesome service. The iguanas are friendly and like to eat cherries, grapes, and pineapples from the bar.

Great 1st Experience in St Martin!
We stayed here over New Year’s Eve on the adults-only side, and it was a fantastic choice—especially since the connecting property seemed overrun with kids. Overall, I have very few complaints about the hotel. The grounds were immaculate, and most of the staff were friendly, although a couple seemed a bit annoyed when asked questions. One highlight of our stay was the exceptional service at Azul, thanks to our waitress, Matt. Her dedication to going above and beyond really stood out, and whoever she reports to should be confident in her excellent customer service. Another standout was the bartender at our hotel (unfortunately, I didn’t catch her name). One day, she was also bartending outside at the large shared pool and was consistently kind and engaging, making our visits to the bar a pleasure. We only tried the breakfast buffet once, so I can’t comment on the dinner options there. We did, however, visit the outdoor grill several times, and the hamburgers and hotdogs were absolutely amazing. We also dined at the Asian restaurant one evening, which was just okay—not great. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold, and we noticed several other guests commenting on how chilly it was. The adults-only bar was well-stocked with great options, and our room came with three large bottles of liquor and a bottle of champagne, which was a thoughtful touch. My only two complaints are minor but worth noting. First, the beach chair process was unclear—we weren’t sure if they needed to be rented or how to secure one. Second, the adult pools lacked energy and were pretty boring. It would have been great to have at least one pool on the adults-only side with lively music, rather than having to go to the shared pool for a more vibrant atmosphere. Despite those small issues, this was an amazing vacation overall, and I’d highly recommend the resort!
