Love SXM! 2nd visit to the island
Location cannot be beat as it’s so close to the airport with spectacular ocean views of the airplanes landing. Room was comfortable though dated but served its purpose for sleep and shower. There are a couple restaurants on the compound with a nice breakfast option. Some staff were friendly and welcoming, overall a decent stay.

Fun in the Sun, Sint Maarten
This was our first visit to Sonesta Ocean Point Resort and we absolutely loved it. Sharon from the Azul restaurant provided exceptional service. Her hospitality made our trip that much better. We will definitely visit again very soon. 🏝️

Disappointed
The positive first…. We stayed in a rooftop suite with a butler at the Ocean Point. Our butler’s name was Ranjeet. He was spectacular! Super friendly, warm, welcoming, knowledgeable about the property, the amenities and constantly asking what he could do for us. He was punctual and professional, and truly lived up to, even exceeded, the “Sonesta brand”. He made our trip. If you book a suite with butler service, make sure you ask for him by name. Our room was beautiful, clean and spacious with a balcony overlooking the ocean, no complaints. You need to know this resort really does not have a beach to speak of, and more so, like other reviews have stated, you are literally at the airport with planes landing every 15 minutes, many of which are jumbo jets from the US and Europe. It’s super exciting the first few times and then it gets loud and annoying fast. We therefore spent our days at Saint Martin Beach clubs, went on day trips to Saint Barts and Anguilla. But I have to say by far our biggest disappointment was the unfriendliness and unwelcoming attitudes from the Sonesta employees. I can count on my hand, a few exceptions. One already mentioned, Ranjeet our butler, and the second, Smiley, who we were fortunate enough to have delivered our breakfast on a few occasions. He was so upbeat, so warm, friendly and kind. We absolutely loved him and he made us smile. He should NOT be delivering room service, he should be at the front desk, or bar tending, somewhere where he is constantly interfacing with guests! Smiley and Ranjeet should TRAIN the other Sonesta employees on the meaning of hospitality! Out of kindness, I won’t call out the name of the employee who wouldn’t help us upon check out, but have to say we were exceptionally turned off by the fact that when we called for a bellhop to come up and help us with our luggage at 9AM we were told there are no bellhops nor golf cart service till 10 AM. We had a flight to catch! Then, when we went to the lobby to get a luggage cart to do it ourselves, the same employee wouldn’t give us one, and said they were locked up and they were only for bellhop use! How were we supposed to get our luggage from the Ocean Point lobby up the cobblestone road to the main lobby? She was pathetically unhelpful… However, Ranjeet saved the day! He got us the help we needed! Thank goodness we upgraded to Butler service! Sad and unfortunate, but on our next trip to St Maarten we won’t be returning to the Sonesta.

A Great Place To Vacation
What a great resort to vacation at! The entire facility is kept so clean & beautiful. Housekeeping was fantastic as was the food and service. The entertainment at night was so much fun. We took a yoga class with the instructor (Gypsy) & a High Intensity Training and kickboxing class with Eugene. Both instructors were just great! All of the staff were very helpful & friendly. A nice, all inclusive experience!

5 star resort
This hotel was top notch. The staff was accommodating, easy access to a lot of activities, food was great, unlimited drinks. I would recommend this stay to anybody. They also upgraded me to a butler suite which was the icing on the cake for me.
