Winter paradise
A beautiful place which is well maintained in public and private spaces. The beach is sublime with golden sand, very little debris and plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The beach staff are obliging and pleasant. Throughout the hotel the staff are unwaveringly polite and helpful. The pool is nice although somewhat marred by the ‘bagging’ of loungers by guests very early in the morning. I understand this is difficult to ‘police’ but it’s irritating. The pool is well maintained if a little shallow for adults. The food is very good and varies rather more than a similar hotel we stayed in.

Outstanding customer service and facilities across the board.
From the very first moment the staff met us at reception, the level of customer service was set. Throughout our stay, every single encounter we had with the staff was absolutely exceptional. Not only did the facilities offered at the resort exceeded expectations, but we were so blown away with The friendliness and attentive service in all areas, that we rebooked within a week of being home. The best all-inclusive experience we have ever had. I want to mention in particular the following staff who consistently went out of their way to enhance our personal experience; nothing was too much trouble for them. They were:Kay, Javan, Akiel, Nikolai, Justin and my ‘dancing boy’. (Sorry I didn’t get your name, but you served us our drinks most nights in the Reef restaurant and danced your way with the biggest smile around our table. ❤️ I hope you know who you are. )

One of the best and in a great location too.
I had thought long and hard which hotel to pick in various price ranges and I have to say this hotel deserves all the praise it gets in these reviews and I'm so glad I chose it. The main reason? As most have said...its the staff...they are simply fantastic and are so accommodating. They all want to chat to you. Regardless if it's the waiters, the hot food servers, the cleaning ladies wiping the floors or the bar staff (even while they are serving 3 or 4 people at the same time !!!). I know not everyone wants to chat-if you don't then won't but most people do and enjoy it. That's what makes the hotel so down to earth and friendly. I did have a few niggles though. The waiters are very quick to take your plates away...on the first breakfast just after we arrived the night before we returned to our table with our cooked breakfast only to find that they had removed our (full) cups of tea, our full orange juices and our side plates and cutlery !!!. I could understand it if our tea cups and orange juice were almost empty but they were full. Not a good start. To be fair that was an isolated incident and they do usually ask before taking plates away. On occasions they were still taking cutlery away whilst we were getting food only to find the cutlery we needed had gone !!! The other niggle I had with the buffet was there were never enough plates. Sometimes we had to wait for another batch of plates to arrive. It was obvious that the replacement plates had come straight from the dishwasher as they were warm which is not ideal if you wanted the plate for a cold pudding like a cheesecake or cheese and biscuits for example. The swimming pool was a bit dissapointing in being only 3 foot deep and in three sections with little walls which you have to put your leg over to get to the next bit of the pool which made it very difficult to swim in. That said most people preferred to swim in the sea. We ate in both Umi ad Sizzle. I don't know if it was just a bad night but Umi was dissapointing in terns of service. The young waitress who served our drinks managed to spill the wine onto the table and just walked away when she had finished pouring without even wiping the drops from the table or apologising. Not only that she did it again when she topped up the glasses. She had clearly not been taught how to pour wine properly. To cap it all when we were talking our glasses downstairs at the end of the meal to listen to the music we were stopped at the top of the stairs before we could go down by another waitress who made us pour our wine into plastic glasses. I totally get the need for plastic glasses downstairs during the day as some people would be going on the beach with the glasses and no-one would want to step on broken glass. However this was in the evening. I've never come across this before. This was dissapointing as the food was excellent. Sizzle by contrast was very good from start to finish. As I said it might just have been an off day. Niggles overzealous, I have to say that overall it was a fantastic holiday in a fantastic hotel where the staff are so willing to help you in any way they can. Even on the last day they still look after you as there is an excellent hospitality room with two or three showers with toilets and sinks with towels and some separate changing rooms which was very handy as the flight home was late in the evening. Thank you Sugarbay....you were great.

Fantastic holiday, amazing hotel, food and staff
Just returned home after an amazing holiday at Sugar Bay Barbados. The hotel and rooms are fabulous, as is the food in the buffet and the two restaurants. The entertainment is excellent on an evening and there's a fabulous steel band on certain lunch times. The staff all go above and beyond, nothing is too much trouble and they are all so courteous, genuinely friendly and eager to help. There are too many to mention but a special thanks to the following, in no particular order ! Lucas, Samantha ( for my room), Joan, Helen, Aliyah S, Nicolai, Justin, Akiel and Deeannera you all made it a very special holiday for me. Will be back next year and cannot wait to see you all again. Highly recommended and for solo travellers, incredibly safe and welcoming.
