Not the best
Cozumel is beautiful, and you should definitely go, but choose to stay somewhere other than Sunscape Sabor. First, the room was run down - no tub, windows didn't shut (no latch in bathroom), patio door had no lock, the bathroom door could not be shut because there was no latch on the door, the exterior door did not close completely, and the water had to run for about fifteen minutes in order to get a hot shower. Likewise, they put us at the back of the complex, right next to the maintenance building. Our view from our patio was scaffolding and a cement pails, and the noise of the compressor was terrible. At one point they were spray painting (twice this happened), and the paint wafted across our deck. We asked to be moved, but were denied. The complex smelled like sewer in various locations. Finally, after a number of complaints, the maintenance guy put a cup of bleach in the pipe. There was one bar - no swim-up bar (those were available in neighboring resort pool, which we were not allowed to access - more on that later), shared with two other resorts (on the left and right), and two restaurants. There were breakfast buffets in the morning and at lunch, but no buffet at night - you had to wait to get reservations at one of the restaurants (which were also shared with the other resorts). As mentioned, Sunscape is in the middle of a complex (all owned by the same company). The guests at Secrets and Dreams (right and left) could go anywhere they wanted (any bar, restaurant, pool on the entire complex), but Sunscape guests had to stay put - there was a sign explaining that Sunscapers could be charged extra if caught anywhere else. The result was that Sunscape guests sometimes had to wait to eat (because Secrets and Dreams people decided to use the Sunscape bar and restaurants). Those guests also claimed seats on the beach, which limited access for Sunscape guests as well. The positives were that the oceanfront was beautiful (even though they didn't rake Sunscape beachfront - just the other two), and the weather was warm and sunny. There was snorkeling equipment that could be checked out for one hour per day per guest (otherwise, $10/hour). The fish and guests were friendly. Bottom line: there are a ton of other quality resorts on the island - read the reviews on those as well.

Had a great time!
I was a little worried after reading the reviews but it was the best price so my expectations were appropriate. First, the staff is so friendly. Our room was always clean. Raul who worked hard to entertain everyone was amazing. He made a point to find my daughter and invite her to activities. He surprised her with a very nice birthday cake and saw us off with a gift for her. She cried all the way to the airport for him. It made the trip so special. The entertainment was cute for two nights. The food was fine but wish they had a pizzeria or taco truck for additional options. The beach was really nice. We snorkeled and saw many fish right there. The beds were comfortable. The spa was really expensive and customs didn't help or we would've done multiple treatments. I know the hotels next door can visit but you can still walk their grounds too. Especially for photos. The neighbor hotels are higher end but our beach was better or at least the same so that's nice to know. Taxis to town are $20 so maybe don't do the shuttles. Excursions are great, Luana with Amstar is sweet and knowledgeable. We loved the peace and quiet.

Cost Cozumel
What a lovely intimate resort. The food and staff were excellent. It did not feel like a mega resort. If was quiet. The locations and rooms were clean and airy. All had a view of the courtyards filled with tropical plants. We awoke to birdsong the beach is steps away and perfect for snorkeling.

avoid unless u desire remote location
definetly not as advertised, no buffet, long lines greater 20-30 mins to even enter resturants, food selection limited, and often ran low on menu items daily. food quality at dine in was above average when availible. the entertainment/sports activity were very limited, they did not refill fridge beverages, rooms basic and crowded, cafe had some nice desserts, no nightlife at all, beach was nice, never a beach or pool chair availble at most times. ac, beds/pillows were ok, the resort is smaller so everything was relatively close proximity staff was variably pleasant to helpful, often not present at their stations and needed to be tracked down, excellent massage at spa but very overpriced $200/hr us

Nine Days of Sun and Beach at Sabor
My Husband age 94, and I were there March 3 - March 12, 2025. This made it our 5th stay at Sabor; our 15th trip to Cozumel since 2001. Would definitely go back. The staff at this resort were friendly, they work hard to please each guest and so accomodating, Specially the Sunny Cafe hostess Lelany, and at the Patio Glendy. The waiters: Germain, Miguel, Ciro, Antonio, Reyes. Bartenders were all efficient. Entertainment was awesome: Mexican Folklore, Mayan Show, the Mardi Gras parade. Raul provided day programs; taught us simple Spanish, afternoon volleyball, morning exercise. He really kept things moving. We had some of the best order off the menu meals. Breakfast was the only buffet style meal. Wish more meals were buffet offerings to try more Mexican native foods. Missed seeing the Mariachi's this year.
