Had a wonderful vacation. Staff was helpful and friendly. Started my mornings with yoga. Sarah, the instructor, was one of the best instructors that I have come across on my travels! Great way to start the day in paradise. I would definitely go back!

Dec 30, 2024DO NOT GO!
My family and I traveled to this resort over Christmas holiday leaving on the 23rd and returning on the 29th, so we go back in last yesterday, and I COULD NOT wait to leave!!! I have never written a review no matter how I felt about a resort, good, bad, indifferent, and I usually don't read reviews as people always have something to complian about, but I felt the need to give people a heads up on this one. This is BY FAR the WORST resort I have ever been at. The staff was less than friendly (even when you tipped), our room was disgusiting, I think they continually mopped the dirt around on the floor, the bathroom never felt clean. They would come and "clean the room" but NOT leave clean towels (or any) or toilet paper, and HOT water for showering WAS NOT a thing, did not have HOT water the entire time we were there (7 days). There were ants all over the sink, that I had to clean up myself. You get 2 skinning pillows on each bed, and a thin blanket...and you cannot control the air, so you are freezing or sweating. I called for additional blankets, had to call 3x's and finally they brougt me one up, I asked for 3, then they gave me 2, only to deny me the third, but coming back later to drop it off. The hotel itself seemed run down, concrete chipped everywhere, and paint used to conver any mainteneance that needed to be completed. They would only leave you 2 bottles of water a day in your room, ZERO beer or other juices to be had. If you wanted beer in your room you had to go buy it from the gift shop, if you asked for me water, since there was 4 of us, your were told it was a 2 water max....what?!!!!!! We did call front desk and ask for water, they brought it up appox 4.5 hrs later. You could not get a dinner reservation, basically had to bully my way in and give tips. There was one sweet girl who did her best to come through for us, which she did, but good luck with that. There is ONE bar on the entire resort, and there is ALWAYS a line up. While the bar tenders are pleasant, don't ask them to mix up somehting speacial for your kids, because they will tell you they will not do it, which is hilarous! The pool....probably wouldn't get in that, it was a weird colour of green, and while there were storms they did not do anythig to clean the debris floating on the of the water, not to mention what laid at the bottom of the pool, you really did not know, but it was disgsuting. The beach was fine, nothing you can do about the weather, but eveyday we were there it was red flags, and lots of whistles kicking people out, I assume this was for safety features, something maybe the locals knew that we did not. The Buffet, well, that's interesting, very little service, sometimes no utensils, had to go find them, majority of the time, uless you got there right at 6pm the table clothes were dirty and not changed. Usually the same stuff was served, as the day before. Saw a patron break a cup on the way to the bar, accidents happen, no employee ran over to clean it up, no one even cared, they put a chair over it, and I guess you should have had shoes on or your were going to get your foot cut.....that was there for awhile. I also witnessed several employee trying to "pick-up" guests while they were working, that's cool, go for it, but not in the middle of the buffet when people are waiting for your services. There is no one walking around either at the pool or at the beach taking drink orders, just an FYI Pool towels were a hard thing to come by, if you ended up getting one, you held on to it, and you better have the towel cards upon check out, or no checking out for you!!! Overall, the worst resort I have ever stayed at, the worst!!!!!

Dec 29, 2024Not a four-star resort - it's a pity!
We have chosen this resort, because of its fantastic location, excellent planning, and a Wyndham franchise. I can honestly say we were disappointed. But let the good go first. The location and design of this resort are fantastic. The beautiful beach and pool divided only by 20 metres wide palm tree area is something I appreciate the most. You don't have to walk a lot of distance to choose between a pool and a beach. The other very valuable asset is the staff. They were doing a lot to make our stay pleasant, they were very friendly, very helpful and very warm to us (we are both seniors). I can also say only a good thing about the medical staff. Even beach merchants are friendly and not annoying at all. But at that point, good things end. We were there for 9 days, and only one day we had hot water in our room. Also, there was no hot water in the jacuzzi at all. The quality and variety of food were mediocre, we expected more from the Wyndham chain. Another small, but very annoying thing was a partially clogged sink in the bathroom. I asked reception 3 times to fix that, but nothing was done despite promises. But the most ridiculous thing I’ve found in the bar. There is only one bar in this resort. In the description of that resort, we could read they all beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic are unlimited. That was completely untrue. Alcoholic drinks unlimited were only local ones. Everything else like Jonny Walker's red label, Dewar’s white label and Vat69 were considered premium ones and not available for us at all. It's really weird to classify those drinks as premium, but when I tried to buy them, I was told, I couldn't. You have to be a Viva Club member for a ridiculous amount of money (around CAD 10000 for 3 years). But despite that, I would like to thank Ralfina, for her amazing mojitos, Spanish coffees and margaritas, and Juan Jose for his amazing jobs as well. Thank you for all the amazing staff there, you have made our stay there very memorable despite the cons. I wish the management of that resort to be like their front-line staff. Happy New Year!

Dec 27, 2024Christmas at Tangerine
Viva Tangerine has always been a blast for me and my family. Beginning with the location it’s greatly placed in a beautiful beach with plenty of yummy restaurants and amazing views along super entertaining kite surfers. The food is also pretty good with restaurant options as well, with the Christmas food being good especially (giant paella and delicious fish). Those working around including: Eduardo, Jairo, Ronald, Mariano, Francisco, Elizabeth, and Albert, confidently made our days better with their smiles and hospitality. Ultimately, the best part of this resort and the reason my family and I have so much fun all goes to the animation team. They work so hard to keep the energy up and make sure everyone has a good time. We have truly made lifelong friends - living up to the “amigos para siempre” motto they go by. In particular: Coyote, Smilla, Lava girl, Sombra, Piryy, Coco, Winnie, Junior, Chalaca, Pikachu, Benger, Moisés, and Capuchino have never failed to make us laugh with their love and contagious energy.

Third time here
Lava Girl - Smila - the best Nutella- Coco- Chalaka - La sombra -Yunior - Winnie and DJ Brillo, all pour their hearts and smiles out to connect. The whole day, from 9am to Midnight they are around, making you laugh, and making sure you’re having the best time. The resort wouldn’t be the same without them because their caring personalities and fun attitudes are what makes the atmosphere more enjoyable. Remarkable team! The staff at the buffet Eduardo, Ronald, Jairo, and Mariano were lovely with their happy smiles and excellent service. Food is very good, I have celiac desease with lactose intolerance, and fortunately found options to eat. Even if food is not labeled as gluten or dairy free, the staff is always available to give advice. My suggestion would be to visibly mark gluten and dairy free food options. Amazing location in front of kilometres of warm Caribbean beach, perfect for long walks to enjoy the sunset and sunrise along with the view of incredible tricks of kiteboarders. Windy sometimes but walking along the shore to the East we found a quiet beach lagoon. There is always security staff in the beach if you want to leave you towels and stuff while walking. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Air conditioning was works great. Our third stay at viva Wyndham Tangerine and we can’t wait to come back to Cabarete. Impossible to get bored with the excellent entertainment team for all ages. The hotel has everything you want for a fun and relaxing holiday, but the staff’s way of genuinely go above and beyond and excellent service.
