    Wailea Marriott disaster

Staying at Marriott Wailea was a disaster, we are here Feb14-19 for Valentine’s Day and our 10 year anniversary and so far both dates completely ruined! First when we arrive and at check in a letter from day prior about special upgrade deal for our anniversary terns out to be unavailable. Send at check in feb14 Valentine’s Day we get in at noon (our room was ready) due to special day I kindly tip a 100$ for both manager and front desk to ask and insure that day and check in goes well, we been offered change of room (no difference whatsoever same category not an upgrade) which we thought was a nice touch till it turned in to a 4hour wait in a lobby and a waste of complete Valentine’s Day as we couldn’t unpack or do anything for that matter so we were strangled all day waiting for a magical room that turned out to be same as we originally booked! If that wasn’t enough today Feb15 our room got flooded and now whole bathroom is pulled apart we can’t use sink nor shower. They just left it there. We have a one year old child that needs bottles washed I have to run cross the hotel to wash bottles in a public bathroom. As a cherry on top today is our 10 year anniversary and it’s okay that they don’t care about our special date and did nothing for it to be memorable, but at least could give us a room that is not a complete flooded disaster. As a returning customer and Bonvoy Member I urge management to pull a grip on this situation and handle there customer service and hotel management better. For hotel that has rooms starting at a 1000$+ this is by far the worst experience we ever encountered. This 10 year anniversary will be memorable for sure, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. We have 3 more night here but at the pace it’s going I am afraid we might need to look to stay elsewhere for the remainder of the vacation just so we can salvage the little time we have.

    Beautiful Resort, but Very Expensive

Consider this a 4.5 star review, but I'm rounding up. I spent three nights at the Wailea Beach Resort. This was my first time to Hawaii, with stops in both Honolulu and on Maui. The resort's open-air lobby was great, and they even had doors that could be pulled-out if it started to rain. At $744 per night, this was a pricey stay, but my rate came with a $100/day food credit. The nearby Waldorf Astoria and Four Seasons were at least $1000 per night. This resort also seems to de-emphasize their Marriott affiliation, as nearly all signs, wristbands, and room keys just say "Wailea Beach Resort". The lei greeting and fresh juice at check-in was a great touch! I booked a Partial-Ocean view room and received a room on the top-floor of the Haleakala Tower. It was very spacious and appeared to be recently renovated. The balcony had an amazing direct ocean view. My only dislike was the separate room containing the toilet and shower. There were two issues: it was very hard to close the door while standing in that room and the floor was drenched when taking a shower. I'd suggest installing a full shower door instead of the partial glass panel. During my stay, half of each floor in the tower was under renovation. The elevators were a mess, with one containing tarps to prevent damage from construction materials. The pool set-up was terrific. There was a family pool with slides, two smaller pools, and my favorite, the adults-only infinity pool. That seemed to be the most popular one at the resort and it wasn't so easy to get a lounge chair. There are two beaches at either end of the resort, but I was a little disappointed by them. In my opinion, Aruba has the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. On this plus side, I was able to enjoy some whale-watching from the pool. In terms of restaurants, I had breakfast on my first morning at Humble Market Kitchen. The waffle was delicious, but expensive, and not covered by my food credit. I spent the remaining two mornings at Starbucks. Food and drinks by the pool were excellent. I really enjoyed the burger and chicken gyro. I used the gym one night and it had a great selection of machines plus a dumbbell rack and benches. Finally, staff was very friendly. I'd like to recognize Angelica in Pre-Arrivals who left a basket of tasty snacks and card for my birthday, Lilinoe who was an excellent instructor for the lei-making class, as well as Ryland and Guy who were great servers at the infinity pool. Overall, the Wailea Beach Resort offers great pools, extensive grounds and stunning views. However, Maui is incredibly expensive and rates at this resort can exceed $1000/night if you don't book well in advance. This was probably the nicest Marriott I have ever been to.

    Amazing honeymoon highly recommended

Had an amazing honeymoon at this resort, beautiful ocean view from the room. The adults pool is incredible and we spend most of our time here. Service around the hotel is fantastic. Only negative is we had a bad experience with the female fitness instructor who runs a lot of the classes. She had an attitude from the start so we left half way through. Otherwise 10/10

    Mixed Feelings

I have mixed feelings/reviews about our recent stay. My room was not ready until maybe 6pm while I was out at dinner. My bags were dropped off at my room but my room key which I was given earlier did not work so I had to go back down to the lobby to get them to set it up. The building/room configuration was confusing. Some bldgs are attached. The first number of your room is the bldg, the second number is the floor, and the last two are the room number. No one explained that to me. I got lost a couple of times the first day or two and had to ask ee's I ran into in the hallway how to get there. In addition to the room locations, it took a while to get to the lobby and was confusing which way to go to get the beach, various pools, or the lobby. Almost understood it by the time I left (was there for five days). The room itself was nice, king bed with water views. Clean, birds chirping in the am to wake us up. Used the water slides which was a highlight for me at the hotel. Food at the onsite location was good. Nearby shopping center had places to shop/eat also. Not sure I'd stay here again considering the cost. Staff was very friendly/helpful. Tips are included in resort fee so you don't have to keep digging in to your wallet for tip money. Found this helpful. Of course tipped separately when I checked out.

    Not worth the money!!

This was our 30th wedding anniversary, and we had never been to Hawaii before, and it was my dream to go. This was the 1st place to stay when we got there. (We had 3 choices of places to stay. This was the most expensive, it was facing away from any view but was very private, the picture we were shown, we picked it) Check-in was easy, then went downhill from there. We opened our door to the room we booked roughly 7 months prior to this trip. WHAT IN THE HELL!!....the mold smell, the dampness, and the 20 year old couch, damaged furniture, and needed to be painted. (Felt worse then the local roach motel) I was like, I think this is the wrong room." We go back down stairs to see about it, and we're told that the room we booked doesn't exist anymore, (but I could clearly see it below the room they had us in) the desk clerk said the one we booked is not available. But we could stay in that one -$100 LESS. PAHAHAHAHA!!! At that moment, I wanted to fly the 20 hours back HOME. They agreed to move us to the beach view room that night for the same price, but I was so tired from the 20 HOUR flight there I was like, we will do in the morning. But after taking a shower and still feeling like I needed to take another shower, (after walking on the floor, my feet were black) I was nope we moving tonight! We called back down to the desk to move, and they said sorry, but the room isn't available now they had to clean it. REALLY. I said fine well do tomorrow afternoon when we get back from our day out" We arrive to check in again. I started to ask about why the room wasn't available. The manager told me they are renovating 1 wing at a time and this one going on now. (I was like, why did no one tell us when we called the week before to confirm the booking.) And no price adjustment? As I started asking more questions, she then told me sorry, but you booked through a 3rd party and not Marriott. If so, I could do more to help. WTH! So then she gives me the new room key and says sarcastically enjoy your sunset! (Because this one was on the beach) not too much privacy. And had ants in it. The photos below were what we were shown and why we picked it. BUT THAT ROOM DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE! But it's still on the website 🤷‍♂️ Stay away!
