Best hotel in Edinburgh 🤩
Best hotel in Edinburgh 🤩 We love this hotel. The staff are all very polite and extremely helpful. The location is great for all attractions, old town and new town are both a nice walk. A castle view room is well worth it. You cannot beat it. The breakfast is to die for and the Caley bar is great for a cocktail We stay here every time we come to Edinburgh. See you again soon

Fabulous hotel in a great location
Beautiful and comfortable room with the amazing view of Edinburgh Castle. The location is excellent and although the hotel carpark was not open for our stay due to renovation work (which did not impact our stay otherwise), parking was offered at a reduced rate at an NCP car park a couple of minutes walk away. We had a fantastic experience oevrall with welcoming, ettentive staff, an really enjoyed the first-class bar and restaurant offerings.

Wonderfully Caring Staff (and Great Location, Too!)
I cannot say enough positive things about this hotel or the people that work here. From the beginning, we were eagerly welcomed and assisted with everything that was needed. Amy, the first to help us with check-in, was incredibly friendly and helpful. She spoke so highly of the surrounding area and offered countless recommendations for our stay in Edinburgh. When I called the next day needing help with something, she happened to be the one to answer the phone and was quick to ask how our day was and what we had done with our time. If there is a welcoming committee for Edinburgh, Amy should be the Chair of the Committee. From there, we encountered Linda for concierge help. If there is a key to the city, Linda deserves it. I imagine she would be the champion of any and every trivia about Edinburgh. Her knowledge of the city was immensely precise and was unwavering in enthusiasm. Without doubt, she should be elected the Lord Provost of Edinburgh. Lastly, while brief, my interaction with Laura during my early-morning check-out was the exact level of compassion and enthusiasm I needed and wanted at 05:00AM. She was thoughtful in inquiring about our trip and ensured we had everything we needed for our departure. All this to say, if able, everyone should absolutely stay at this hotel and encounter the beauty and hospitality of every person inside. Looking forward to returning and for another visit to this lovely hotel!

Good value for a nice hotel
There can’t be any criticism of the service of the front desk, doormen, housekeeping or concierge. All were excellent. The room was ample, well laid out, comfortable and relatively quiet for being in the middle of the city. We had room service and it was fine- the food was by no means excellent. Likewise, breakfast was not excellent nor was the service. But the hotel is well located and compared to the other nearby Balmoral luxury hotel, this is far more affordable. I would absolutely stay here again because overall the value was there.

Horrible Hilton experience at The Caledonian
Didn’t have the greatest experience here. As a Diamond status member, I expected much better service at this hotel, and they disappointed me. I booked a room with all points after staying at one of the Hilton properties for over 100 plus nights last year. When I made the reservation, I thought things were good, but AFTER I added someone else to the reservation the cost went up by about 1K pounds in addition to the points. I only discovered this after checking on the reservation to ensure that everything was ok for the trip. I call the Hilton diamond member reservation desk and ask why the change. They too were perplexed that the reservation was modified even with my confirmation locked in. Hilton gave me the 17K point needed to make the reservation whole again, with no cost. Upon arrival at the hotel, there was construction going on in the front lobby, so we had to enter thru a side entrance thru the bar, to a temp reservation check-in desk. Not the best way to start my vacation, but ok, if this is the worst that can be, it was ok. I checked in only to find out that I was notified that no upgrades to suites were available. I said, OK, especially since the hotel doesn’t even have an exclusive lounge, like most other Hilton properties for the diamond members. Maybe there is more to this location than what I am experiencing now. Another member of my party, who booked her reservation via AMEX, was offered an IMMEDIATE suite upgrade, so I am like, WTF!!! I guess when you book thru AMEX, they offer you more, instead of booking thru their website!!! I was extremely upset about this since, they told me that NOTHING was available. I expressed my frustration only to be told that AGAIN, nothing was available. I went to my room to drop off my bags only to discover that there was construction going on across the hall from the room (room 349). The noise was unbearable, so I went back down to the front desk to request a room change. They were hesitant to change my room until I advised them that they knew about this room and my reservation for weeks, and this was intentional. Overall. I expected much better and I have NO intention of ever staying at this property on future visits to the city.
