    LOVED

We absolutely loved this resort and would definitely stay again!! Staff was very friendly! Lots of activities planned! Great family resort or just couples resort! The food was excellent. We made reservations after we got there for their Al la cart restaurants and then we ate breakfast and lunch at the Mitra market that had 5 different food stations and food themes at night. I could have easily ate at the Mitra market for dinner because everything was so good including the service. The bars had wonderful mixologist and the drinks were so good! I have been to multiple sandals all adults resorts and this one met and exceeded my expectations of all inclusive resorts for food, drinks and service! It was a very clean resort! Loved the beach! They have a great spa, but you cannot miss the opportunity to have a beach massage from the locals right on the beach for only $40 for a 1 hr massage! I got one every day that I was there under the green tent! One of the best massages I’ve ever had!! I loved seeing all the wild life on the resorts from the iguanas, to the birds, squirrels and all the howler monkeys! They were so much fun to watch! I highly recommend contacting Andrei with conchalfun.com. I read about him on trip advisor and contacted him through the website and he messaged me right back that evening and set up everything we wanted to do for our stay. He was easy to work with and provided us some our best excursions. He took us into a beach/surf town called Tamarindo for the day. We even got to meet his dog Shakira who tagged along with us. The 2 of them were great! He set us up with Carlos for our own private tour for the day to 2 different waterfalls, a sloth/ nature tour. A locals restaurant for lunch, a coffee/ chocolate tour. He was so good! And then our last day Andrei set it up for a catamaran snorkeling/swimming sunset with the lazy lizard! It was so much fun! You will not be disappointed. Everything was perfect and we cannot wait to return to Costa Rica!!!

    Another Wonderful Stay!

This was our third straight year staying at the Westin. The grounds continue to be beautiful and very well maintained. The staff is exceptional. The bedding super comfortable. We saw a lot of upgrades with regards to the evening entertainment. Also,t there are a lot of activities planned by the Pool Activity Center. The activity center staff is one of a kind. Our complaint this year is about Mitra which is great for breakfast but food not so good for lunch and dinner. The restaurants that we visited were all excellent, with great food and waiter service. I was sorry to see that the great Coffee Machine that was located at the pool was removed. It's a shame not to be to have that afternoon cup of coffee nearby. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

    Pura Vida...again!

We had another fabulous time at the Westin. Our kids are 14, 12, and 10. We stayed in the Family category and never had an issue getting a lounger. It looked like there were no issues getting them in the non-family section as well. The food was great again. Our first visit was in November 2022, second February 2025, and I'm sure we will be back for a third. We have stayed at Los Suenos and the JW as well. Everyone in the family prefers the Westin hands down. We book our transportation and excursions through Eric G (blue shirt at the beach entrance). He makes sure you are taken care of and there are never any issues. Pura Vida!

    Overall Great Resort and Experience

Wow! I appreciate that experiences differ, however barring subjective/personal issues (traffic, beach vendors (which never bombarded/heckled our group), personal encounters, etc.) this resort was phenomenal. The vast majority of the staff were exceptionally friendly and focused on pleasing the guests. Location: It's around a 45 min - hour away from Liberio airport, without traffic. The road is essentially a two lane "highway" - 1 lane in either direction, so it may take a little longer to arrive at the hotel - oh well! For return flights - I recommend leaving ample time as we experienced high traffic to the airport and a very long line at customs. There is a V Pass that one can buy for $100 (1 way) or $150 (2 ways) that allow one to skip the line. Grounds/Amenities/Gym: simply put - beautiful. The majority of the buildings consist of 2 floor bungalows of 4 rooms each (2 on ground floor, 2 on second level), which gives the resort a different feel than those with large/tall buildings. All locations throughout the resort are walkable within 5-10 min and there are shuttles that are constantly circulating throughout the property and that can also be summoned by phone. Flora and fauna are everywhere (plenty of monkeys in the trees and iguanas roaming around - they don't bother you, other than the monkeys at times howling in the middle of the night). Grounds include a half basketball court, 3 pickleball courts and 1 tennis hard court (one can borrow the equipment for either free of charge). The gym has all that you'll need for a vacation workout (weight machines, cardio machines, TRX ropes, punching back and free weights. There is a kids' club that we didn't visit. There's also what others claimed to be a great golf course but we did not use it. Rooms: most rooms have a sofa (sofa bed) and elevated desk, with a king bed or 2 double beds in a slightly elevated area. There is usually only 1 tv facing the bed/beds, so unfortunately you can't sit in the "sofa area" and watch. Bathroom is large; water pressure is not amazing. Rooms have a fridge with various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (that get refilled daily) and some snacks (cookies, crackers, chips, plantains). Pool/pool bar: we only used the main pool, which is more pool "lagoon" (again, trees and animals are everywhere) versus the standard rectangular resort pool surrounded only by chairs. Water is warm (considering the outside temperature is usually in the 90s by 8:45 am). Pool bar was lively and staffed with very friendly bartenders. The activities area adjacent to the pool has pool tables, ping pong tables and foosball tables. Beach: Water is warm and the scenery is beautiful. The sand isn't the softest/most refined there is, however it's still a great beach. There are plenty of chairs. At times there was a lack of shade options (they can only fit so many chairs under the trees) however simply ask the beach attendant for an umbrella. The hotel provides kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling gear free of charge. VENDORS - yes, they do approach you, but no one was ever pestered following a simple "no thank you". The majority of the requests were for (legitimate) massage offerings (which everyone who had one swore by them as being better than a spa massage - $40/hour). Food: our group and those we met all found the food to be far above average. It's Costa Rica - not NYC, Montreal, Chicago, etc. Some of the restos were better than others, however no one walked away thinking that any of the food/service was bad. Fruit (pineapple and watermelon in particular) was delicious (versus most other resorts that leave you wanting). Excursions: Eric G!!!! He's located at the hotel's entrance to the beach (blue polo shirt with his name on it). We booked 2 excursions through him. The people/service providers he associates with were truly top notch, and his prices are extremely fair. Highly, highly recommend using his services. Overall: highly, highly recommend this resort, and the country in general.

    Go elsewhere

Very disappointed in our stay. I’m completely surprised by all the great reviews and usually TripAdvisor reviews are generally on point. Definitely not worth the price. Pros Nice rooms Room service Monkeys on site Beach sand and water Cons By far the worst was the heckling by vendors on the beach. I’ve been to many Caribbean islands with vendors but experience nothing like this…Where you were verbally attacked as you walk on and off the beach like a young woman walking through a construction site. And I’m from New York.. Comfort is the main necessity when on vacation and this blew it for me. The food was not good except for the Italian restaurant. Everything was over salted. Don’t waste your money here!
